K, working on a track, have spent 2 days so far.... should I continue? Did use the Atari YM2904 for the chippy sound, renoise for the overall production.

Feedback is appreciated Smile

Alright dude, is this your first track that youve posted? Do I get the honour of giving your first ever reveiw?
Nice warm synth sounds, and I like the rythmical elements, some of the kicks stand out too much though, they sound a little rigid. Im not to keen on the lead synth, sounds a little too dry for my taste, maybe put a nice delay on it or something. The drums arent very clear and dont roll very well, but thats probably down to the EQing. The snare could do eith a bit more punch and the hats could be a little clearer. There is some nice stuff going on in here. I really like the bass synth, it sound really warm and the tune has a nice overal vibe, a little too TrancenBass for my likeing but its cool anyway. I think you should carry on with this but it definately needs something more, its a bit bare bones at the moment. I think if you allowed the drums to come through more, add loads of little rythmic sounds, and had some big pads aswell, you could get a really big sound and turn this into a really epic sounding tune. It'd mean a lot of work, but I think it'd be worth it. At the moment Im not all that enthusiastic about the track, didnt really leave me with any lasting impression, but I think it could really go somewhere if you put the hours into it. Just take your time and think big. Your using renoise, whats it like? I had a look at the website and it looks cool but pretty awkward to use, and Ive heard bad things about trackers. I had a go with OctaMed a couple of years ago and just didnt get on with it at all.

Hey TechDiff, thanks for your detailed review... too bad the tune didn't catch you, but yes, this is my first track posted here. There's a lot of overtuning in the kicks, as I'm not so familiair with compressing/EQing them properly yet, but this is just a matter of playing with them for some time, I guess. As for the pads, I'll be playing with the Legacycell/Absynth a little more Big Grin

As for tracking, I still think it is a very nice way of creating music. It allows you to add and control effects very, very accurately... it somewhat feels like programming Wink
Big disadvantage of most trackers is, that the mixing engine is of less quality then, say Protools or Logic. Also the CPU usage when using VST's rockets sky high, but I guess this is something the guys at Renoise will be improving.

Eh I hear some Vanguard presets there. Correct me if I'm mistaking. Trancy. Some bass reduction would
be good. The drums sound a bit messy time from time. Doesn't stack with the clean trancy sound, if you
would replace it with something dirty and not too liquid - t'would sound much better imo. Finish it. Peace.
