I want to know if there are any other formats other then mp3 that can be used by anyone yet are smaller then PCM wave.
I dont like mp3 because there is always a bit of dead sound before and after the mp3's sample and that makes for pre-delay on all percussion samples or an out-of-sync drum loop Frown

and is ADPCM standard? Can anyone use that one?
im talkin about windows XP home edition here.

thanx for all advice, i wanna get my sample packs to be the a good format here.

Music software usually only supports uncompressed WAV and AIFF for samples.

If you want to reduce the filesize of the samples to save on your bandwidth, try compressing them into zip or rar archives, using lossy compression reduces the sound quality and that is not a desirable thing for samples.
