I recently got FL studio 5
but I have no idea how to work with it... Could somebody explain me how to make songs out of patterns and ... you know, other basics?? please?

Why don't you read the manual first? Or try experimenting a bit.
It's too hard to explain the whole principle of sequencers work.

Yeah, that is REALY REALLY HARD... it took me 1 month juz to get the basic knowledge of FL... but I presume reason would be even much more demanding..

yeah ..it's been kinda tuff for me but I also have been spending hours on end teaching myself and asking questions on here..I even DL'd the FL basic manual from FL site but it is the BASICS of basic..lol seems most manuals are like this or their to damn complicated to read, got to have a PHD sometimes...i suggest ask questions no matter how mundane they are..you can only get the right answers or a dumb one, but most ofthe time the right ones..hell i'm using a rip non pro version of FL studio so i'm limited Frown

took me only a week to learn the software about a mnth to learn complex stuff... and about4-5 to be fully fullly undesrtandable of its capabilities... im pretty fluent... if you wish to ask me hit me up on msn.. my adress is in my profile

it comes very easy if you worked on hardware units before, drum machines, sequencers etc.

and if you didn't.. I bet youll get the hang of it soon

To make songs out of patterns just use the playlist. To use the mixer, open the sample settings and click the counter in the upper right corner, there you can set the mixer channel for that sample. Then you can assign effects and eq in that channel... It's all pretty logical, that's the great thing about FL.

So you have to make each pattern again and again to make edits or what? How to copy patterns anyway?

try "copy whole pattern" Wink

Basic fl is not that difficult imo, its logical & intiutive
getting the grip and knowing how to use it properly, knowing what to do to geyt which sound takes more time...after a year or so it starts to come Happy

just mess around, Lizziekah, i didnt have any clue what i was doing in the begining too Big Grin

Click copy whole pattern, go to the next pattern, select the upper sample and click paste. Instead of copying and editing, you could also make a basic pattern, and several patterns with things you want to change through your song, then combine them in the playlist.
