Please check out my new track 'Ogling Oogles' and post your comments here!!!
This is a track I've been working on for a long time now, and I am beginning to feel a bit lost. I've been listening so much to it that I think I'm beginning to hear stuff that's not there and vice versa.
Feedback would be very much appreciated.

nice beats in the intro. the guitar like synth is too loud! everyhting is drowned when it goes off too Im at 00:45 and the beat is lost: no kick, no snare just distortion
this is experimental stuff right? structurally not much dnb here
some evil samurai stuff at 1:40 lol
I would speed up the 2:40 slow beat and layer over the main one.
not digging weird melody shifts with the guitar lead. youre into metal music right? it reflects here
I hear a kind of pitched down string youve used as abassline, not working at all for me
what else? some nice ideas and parts for sure. very industrial mostly and I love that kind of feel a tune gives. theres a great moment of tension at 1:20 and a s[pot wher I would drop a nasty filtred reece or something else mean and bassy, instead of that somewhat weak breakdown.

Very nice intro, gives a feel of an old story or smth. The bass sound needs to be changed a bit. Very
nice, the beats are too quiet imo, but I like it anyways. The speech is sweet but this can be hardly called
dnb tho. Very nice one!! Without the bass, less guitars, and with a bit clearer simple beat it would make a
very good hiphop composition.
What sequencer are you using?
Cheers

I've given it a listen again and compared it to an older version, seems I've gotten a bit carried away with multiband-processing like compressors, limiters, stereo imagers etc. and made it messier. hmmmf...
cynik: It's supposed to be a wall of sound where the drums disappear I'll just have to be more careful with the mastering tools there. And yes, this is experimental, I try to incorporate at least one new thing in every composition.
dyzeaze: I'm using cubase sx3. Since I am experimenting with the genre it happens from time to time it doesn't sound like DnB anymore, but it is, cause I say so.
The vocals were made by a norwegian MC called September, too bad none of you can understand the lyrics, they kick ass.
Thank you both for comments, I'd stilll like to hear what other people have to say, so keep the comments coming.

Typical Dubrain intro, like it ..
Damn you sure like to use pure drum sounds and guitars, it's becoming clear to me your in the metal scene to ..
I love the guitar though, gives an extra dark feeling to the tune ...
All the synths sound cool and spice up the drums ...
That rap in the last part? Wich language is it? Love the beat
Again nice tune bro, hope to hear allot more of you ...
I think you should make a tune with a japanese feeling to it ... like that cool part in the doomsday machine ...
Nice 1 PDJ

haven't really heard much of your stuff, but if this is a typical intro you got some quality ideas - refreshingly original. lacks some clarity, but what it misses in that it makes up in musicality.
would have prefered it if you had translated the tune into a hook you can get your teeth into
lol this tune is mental, fucking brilliant melodies, i just wish you'd make it a bit more drum and bass, but then it might have lost some of its originality. make the drums louder and please keep working on this one or do some other stuff like it.
intro like some oriental tune, then goes a bit - but not too - metal. love the wind instrument sounds you use. favourite part is the chill bit at 1:36, very dramatci

Thanks guys, i will have to work more on this. I'm thinking to change the snaredrum, re-master and double-check some levels. Maybe I'll add some more drum changes as well, while I'm at it. I'm doing all mixing on hi-fi speakers, I know it's not ideal but it's what I've got.
If I'm into metal? read my profile.
I really appreciate all the feedback I'm getting, makes it easier to motivate myself to actually do the stuff I know I should as well as getting input on things I hadn't thought of at all.
I'll probably post something else the next time around, but we'll see. If the finished version of this song never ends up here on drumnbass.be it'll be on my myspace page sometime in the future.
If anyone else has comments please don't hesitate, I read everything and appreciate all opinions.
THANKS YALL!!

yeah this is cool... the intro is abit strange... but its sounding cool with the mellow-d... the elements are mental and distorted... very cool original stuff. i like it... the part with the vocals near the end is cool. its all pretty cool and twisted.

very experimental. I love the fact you did this in cubase. there's so many new options in cubase sx 3.. and vst is the only way to go if you're using software. I like 1:14's change.. and the way the drums come back in.. i seem to be missing a whole load of quality in the mp3 mixdown; such a shame mp3 sucks so much.
really nice distortion; it sounds hardware! is it?
to contrast the slow bass notes, i'd think about some kind of quick jumpy bass notes in parts especially after some of the buildups
2:39 onwards is heaps good, and worthy of being made into a track on its own!
good work i can tell a load of work went into this
keep it up!

What's up. Spookey intro. Like the bassline. Very interesting. Gets a ltittle noisey with the techy sound. Some crazy stuff man. Is that like one huge build up. Whoa then the hip hop beat comes in with the mcing is pretty wicked. You should have that part be the intro. Cool track I like hearing experimental stuff.
