Guys can you tell me the best way to keep your music original when producing Raw Drum 'N' Base?

And to become a a Drum 'N' Base music producer, Do you have to be a good keyboard player, because the music i hear on the net have heavy chords on base and strings?

And when i make music in reason the masterclass - Maximizer vu meters is allways flashing red, Not constant but just flasing, Is that ok or is that bad?

And i wanted to know, How do they make that fast b-line sound on the music that is played on the radio, It soundz heavy.

And i need to know where can i get free reggae acapella's on the net, So i can put them in my tunes.

And if im ready to sign up on a record deal do you think it would be hard for me to get on a mainstream label because thats where i wanna go, I wanna get Drum 'N' Base music out there in the charts i want every1 to hear how special this music is,

nice dream. i hate to be the first to point this out but the odds on anyone getting dnb out on a mainstream label are slim to none. unless its complete cheese.

dnb is built around a consistant group of labels and djs that are "independent" to a certain degree, the scene is kept alive and continues because there is a reasonable amount of quality control, the more big labels hijack the scene the more likely it is every other record will have sean paul or kelis on it, not good....

as to being a good dnb producer playing keyboards is not essential, although it will help....depends on what style of dnb your going for

to keep original, do like squarepusher, and other dnb pioneers. cheese works well to get signed.
knowing about musical theory, mainly keyboard gives great insight on how chords work, and scales, but it is not esscential because you're a muso, not a preformer.

clipping (the in red vu) is bad, you never want it to go to that, in general, because it may sound fine there, but on other system's it may sound like shit. it's worse if it's a deeper sound. if it's really high, you can sometimes get away with it, but just don't.

good baslines usually have an upper sound taht you hear, that stops at about 200k or so, and then an exact replica of the note is played on a sine wave, to give a clean sounding bass. i notice that on radio's before, dunno if it means shit.

a lot of people know that dnb is special, but only kids like it. it's not really broken in to the adults, and it may never for a few generations. think of rock music, it didn't hit main stream for a decade or so, hip hop is still new to mainstream, and it was around for 2 decades. dnb has been around a lot less, but piggy backing ont he hip-hop scene...

anyways, no, you cnnot be a crediable producers, and be on mainstream, and do dnb. you'd have to build up in some other music genre that is simular. try speed metal, than cross over.

no just dont try and get your shit signed to ... umm uh shit whats a major record label these days???

interscope or some other lame brained group like that ..

go with the labels that actually would put your music out the way it is instead of the ones that want you to "sugar coat" it (for lack of a better term ..

ez
