ah right ur american, those people dont care about the environement right or at least not about what apointments were made in Kyoto...
btw in Europe u are only allowed to drive a car when u are older then 18.
Taxes and insurance cost almost as much as the car itself, and petrol prices are outrageous (€1.5 for a liter (=1/4 gallon))
And most things are easily to be reached using a bike, especially when living in a city
And it's more healthy, it's sport

Hell no. Bikes in the city is fucking great. I used to be well into Dirtjumping but racing round the city is so much fun. Youve just got to ride aggresively thats all. Besides, in London its much faster to ride around than to drive/bus it. Its much better for too. I used to ride all the time but Id get to carried awy and ended up fucking my body up, cracked ribs, broken nose X2, broken fingers, shattered kneecap. So I dont ride anymore and sold my mountain bike (really wish I hadnt though)

hahaha fuck! thats what Im sayin.. yeah I remember once I ended up in some kind of a narrow half-pipe going downwards, didn't see it there since it was late summer and it was covered in leaves. anyway, bumped on something, unintendedly did a wheelie (front wheel went up) but ended up reversing & fell off the bike and started tumbling, everytime landing somehow on my back and rolling again.. nothing broke but half of my skin was peeled off. my mates mount.bike's front wheel was totally twisted and th ehandle broke in two..

biking in the city is what its all about........theres no better feeling than cruising past cars in a traffic jam then hopping on the path when the zebra crossing lights kick in....and then theres scaring old people that think your not going to get out of their way

I used to love racing cabs around London, it can be kinda dangerous but its worth it to piss those bastards off. On a bike you dont have to stop at all. If the lights are red you bunny hop onto the pavement and you can go where taxis cant. Jumping down stairsets has got to be my favourite though.
I think what puts a bike above a car in my opinion is that your not allowed to drive when your drunk. Fuck, I used to go down the trails on caps!

im sorry to hear that gas prices are so high in europe, however you guys are driving cars taht are getting 50-60 miles mpg
and most tanks carry about 10-15 gallon tank... so youre talking a very stubstantial amount of distance before you refill..
which is actualyl better than what we here in the states are getting...
soooooo...
but sport?

Bikes are so fooking fun but I gave up riding them in crowded areas since one time
my rear brakes stopped working (front ones didn't work since day one) when I was
going approx 40 kph off the hill and approaching a four lane road.
This was the day when I found out that you can also use your own legs for brakes.
__ Right now I'm in the process of making up a good sig.

surora, the reason that we think using bikes is so ridiculous here is cuz 1. material items are king, and a car is like the most materialistic idol of americanism...2. we're actually too fast-paced for bikes, even my lil city.
sure its healthy, and i'm sure many americans would love to change things, but we're already so caught up in materialism and the high speed world that we can't do anything about it. i never said i liked it.
myself, i keep healthy. won't let myself waste away in a chair. i have a gym membership and a jogging route throughout my beautiful lil neighborhood.

i dont like the american cars.. they are worse for the environment than the european...
i think riding a bike kicks ass... i mean im the netherlands... so ofcourse its easy and shit here... i mean its great cuz i can drive home drunk on my bike lol... and im not too far from the main city where i can go out and drink and just bike home... <<<fucking genius...
plus im getting exercise and its sometimes what i need instead of making dnb all day and going to school on occasion (using my bike lol)
plus if i need to go any further ill take the bus or train...
i dont have my drivers licence yet but soon i will.. perhaps then my attitude will change.. because i would sure take advantage from lazier possibilties...
