while searching for a decent sequencer for rewiring Reason I've stumbled accros this one: Tracktion 2
compared to Cubase it's pretty cheap - $149.00
right now I'm using a "demo" and it's a lot faster than cubase sx2, with kx drivers has almost no latency. you can program for example beats in redrum while the channel from reason is being effected with a waves reverb - with no lag. sequencer is really clean and easy to use, for what I need the automation of vst plugins is dead simple, capable of recording automation as you twist the knobs etc.. sound quality seems decent too
here's a link to check it out: Mackie's Tracktion 2

Yeah I heard some good things about tracktion before, but I never actually tried it. If it's as good as the mackie speakers it should rock!

didn't actauly heard the speakers but yeah, their renome is well known
as for Trackion2 I recommend it to everyone to whom Cubase is either too expensive, or simply want an easier to use ReWire host.

hmmm. rewire is atleast a good enough reason. you can rewire most shit, specially now that rebirth is free. freed.
traktion's big selling point is the custom tool arrangment, so it's not so cluttered which is good for users with only one monitor. there smat fuckers i say.

it's rewirable only in "host" mode, so you can't plug it in anywhere, it only accepts other "client" applications. so that's a downpoint as you must sequence in it. but it actualy isn't if you don't really have the need to use another sequencer.. plus I find it pleasant to work with

I have a copy of tracktion me self.
It has alot of smarts to it in some ways,
like for example:
the VST paremeters can be adjusted WAY more presisely then in FL,
but the midi-clip editor makes me depressed...
just like Abelton Live...
their note map interfaces are all too crappy imo because
of how you have to put 1 note at a time and all this crap.
i cant explain, but if youve used pianoroll in FL, then in tracktion,
youll see exactly what i mean!
(but if they fixed Tracktion's midi-clip editor... HURAA!)

Well I always find that tracktion is somehow too complicated software...
Too much of buttons and too much of letters and too much of text when you work in it...

haven't really used that since it started introducing glitches in rendering wavs
its got some issues with rewiring, not all versions are supported or something

I just downloaded the demo of this. And it looks like one of the worst programs ever. It is definetly not user friendly, cause I messed around with it for 2 hrs and barely got the hang of it. There is only one program that I have used worse than this and it was back in 99....Mixman Studio

No i use acid pro, but I do use FL for synths, pads, and basslines. I just didnt dig the layout of tracktion, it seemed like 2 much for a seq. I am sure there are way harder programs out there, but i am spoiled off of AP, since AP is one of the most user friendly programs out.
