Please check out my new track 'Silent Nova / King Tut (Nick and Erina Z mix)' and post your comments here!!!

We have to extend a huge THANKS to King Tut for letting us mix (Silent Nova) def. our favorate track by him. He wrote the track in 2003' and it's still the #1 song for all Darkstep tracks posted at AP! We have been writing e-mails back and forth for the past month and we have also learned that not only is he a great artist, but he's a really nice person. Please give the origional a listen if you bother to leave us a review ... ... ... ... ...

http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=276593&t=2951

The vocals are by Camelback Jack from 94.5 Kool FM in phoenix Arizona. He kindly agreed on doing the voice-over for the little scifi scene King Tut wrote; so big ups to him, pay him a visit at www.jackdeanvoiceservices.com About that main melody: King Tut's dad used to always play this classic jingle on the piano back when he was 8. His father did not play the piano, yet he could play this part very well... .... .... ....

Erina re-wrote the piano in Kontact and we also added additional strings and lots of chopped drumz. This was def. a track we enjoyed working on, thanks again King Tut; Love and Respect your friends, Nick and Erina Z

The intro is cool, even gives shivers, but as soon as the filtered beat
comes in, the whole interest is lost. The highpassed reece doenst sound
all that good imo. Beats aren't really tied together. Sorry to say, but I didn't
like the track, but the intro was killer!

You did a way better job on the track than the original. The intro is much
better, but I still don't understand why did you keep the piano. It is very
weak in my opinion. The beat could be much much stronger and agressive.

Anyhow, ups. Looking forward to see your other creations.

Thanks for listening to the intro, I recorded Erina playing the piano, we had to keep it, we liked it so much, it was the main idea behind the origional. We didn't want to over do it with sharp drumz, and thought a few harder drum loops would be alright. The intro is our favorate part also. Z

: Mystery atmos...like the strings,classical.
: Laid back break, chill beats.
: Drums are mechanical as well as percussions.
: Strings are organic
: Drums are synthetic sounding-unnatural
which is not a bad thing, it's just has an industrial feel.
: I missed the Bassline..where is it?
: Drum n Atmo need some foundation...
: Needs Subs + Mid Basses..peace Bigup

The bass line? Confused Bass line? Confused Oh the Bass line! Shocked The bass line is hiding, I guese I could go back and pump it up a bit, it's low in the mix, and I already knew that, you are the first to mention it. I will see if I can get it to jump out in the mid region. Thanks for the listen and advice! Z

hey nik n ZZ... this is a cool remix... def ur style... cool arrangment and production seems alright... the only thing that is letting this track down, i think... is the bass... there is a sub, but it isnt very powerful or noticable... the thing about dnb is to have a dominating bassline. u need that bitch to be screamin... use some distortion or something...
because its just like a pure sub bass. or you could layer it with some bass stabs or something. cool shit though.. keep workin the bass. would make a big difference. Bigup

good start , ambi at its best from you alldough i didnt like the piano that much..., vocal is cool (could be more reeverbed)
buildup -drums are amazing with their effects on it.
Drop is Frown
-> ghost snares , rides , high vintage agressive stuff ?
-> sub could be much louder + some nasty grimey basses are missing.
-> buidup seems harder than drop...

But the good use of knob tweaks n the use of effects n ambient makes it much better.

not a dancefloor killer , just a dark emotiional tune. I guess that was the intention , is it ?

overall is average , not the best , not the baddest.

first off i want to say thank u, seeing this posted up and haering it gave me some fresh ideas, and i have now decided to take another stab at this one. See if i can tear nova apart as well.

Now with that said, i think that the intro could of differed a bit more from the orginal, the piano, vocal and strings r classic and almost have to be in there, but i was thinking maybe a bit more creativity as far as it goes. Also moe's amen isnt heavy enough for this tune in general, it needs more of a bang. Rather than just kinda rolling along.Maybe chop up your own amen and put it in place of it. My main complaint in this is definatly gonna be the lack of orginal elements. Seems like most of this was from the orginal. Just mixed up a bit and changed, i did that as well with my first stab at it. I like the way everything is arranged and whatnot, but i cant really tell for myself what your tune is like.Anyways yea, im not trying to sound like an ass, just a bit to much like the orginal imo....Optikal tore this apart btw and won the contest back in the day. It was close between him and tek infektion.

We appreciate the reviews! We wanted to keep close to the origional on this re-mix and basicly re-record the piano and strings and re-work the drums. We will stab at yet another edit soon. We really appreciate all the reviews and good word. Z

That piano remind's me of the background music in the movie "Road To Perdition",..Check it,...dam close Spliff ,..diggin your sound's and sample's,..The violin version of the piano lick at>2:43 sound's rough,.. well not the sound,. just the playin,..no offence to Mrs. ZZ,.. maybe map out the note's in the midi editor instead of playin them,..if that's what you guy's/gal's did,..this is a phat ass track as usuall,..no doubt about that,..just need to add more imo,..cheers for the treat,.. The review is appreciated, we will go back and fix the strings, I think more reverb might help a little. You might be right it might be off slightly on the timing, I will make for certain. Z

Incredible intro. Massive respect for that right there.

I am sorry to say that I expected something monstrous to come after that intro. Bit light on the drums!

You two have talent. It's clear from the track you have the potential. Some of the drum cuts in the mid to late moments of the track deserve more attention! Some of those breaks are wild! The actual drums you've picked, simple syncopated two-step, lack punch. Bring it complex, make it large. Everything works nicely.

Please guys, I need to hear this with some huge drumsound!

You are right, the drumz are weak.
