It's strange, you get a post that redirects you to the listen page instead of a direct download link

I really need more info before I can fix this.
- What are you doing, in which page? (please supply full URL)
- When do you get the message, in which page? (full URL)
- What have you typed in in the form fields?
- What have you typed in the MP3 tags?
- Please copy the ENTIRE error message, if it originates from my site the error message should look like this:
code: |
1:
2:
|
Database error: the following query failed: "UPDATE stats SET count=count+1"
Please send a PM to thechronic containing this error message. I will try to fix it asap! |
|
If you don't get an error message similar to this it is not generated by my site, and I can't do anything about it.
And most importantly:
Which browser are you using? I didn't program in any UTF-messages in that page so it must be your browser reporting that.
There are two possibiliities:
- Your browser is badly configured, which means you cannot upload binaries to other sites either
- You are using a charset which is not compatible with western-standard iso-8859-1. This happens when you eg are able to enter Korean text in the form fields. Your browser should recognize the charset in the header of the page, and send out the correct data.
Both of these things cannot be fixed by me but are browser related.

That's a failsafe thing I built in to not screw up the forum with an empty thread when something goes wrong with the upload.

Surya have you deleted the tracks? Did you get any error messages about the track not existing?

rendered it in fl studio so the ID3 tags are in order. |
Try encoding it with LAME like I suggested before. Just render out as a WAV and encode it with LAME.
I'm not so sure if Fruity Loops generates proper tags. In the past when people had problems uploading it was usually fixed when they used LAME instead of another encoder. Try this first!

OK I found some more info that might be related to this. It appears that certain versions of iTunes write malformed MP3 tags, so if you use iTunes to set your tags make sure you upgrade it to the latest version.
BTW don't bother too much with the tags, they get replaced by the upload script automatically.

The problem was in the charset I was using. Yay, thanks thecronic, I
wouldn't have ever thought of switching to iso. How about mentioning
that on the upload page as well?

Before I do that, are you running the very latest version of IE6? Have you done all Windows security updates?
