Hellooooo!!!
i've never invested any money in buying sample cd's, never really found it a problem, what that says about my character i'll leave to you but in my latest attempts to make rolling breaks i have been trying to incorporate more percussion.

now this has always been a bit of hit n miss cause i never seem to get the placement quite right to create that flowing feel and i guess the few perc' samples i have don't have the quality needed to be used for the end product.

i guess my question is where can i find some decent conga/perc etc samples that can help my in building that 'perfecr' break.

the best example i can think of to show you what i want is Raiden's use of percussion

Bare Knuckle fight
Psycho Flow (me thinks i got the name wrong on dis one)

thanks for any positive responses

you need to find those in loop and rittm?? guess so.
the seperate sounds cann be found on several sites. but the problem idd is that they wont, and i say never, have the natural flow, when put in a sampler or drum computer, that live ones have. so i guess loops then.
Or you buy them or you track em down on the net and make sure nothing original sounding is left for the copyright. (unless they are copyrightfree)

cheers

Step 1, Buy a conga/bongo.
Step 2, record it.

If your determind to stay away from using sample CDs then the best option would be to record your own.

I'd say go get some cd's in the nearest secondhand cd shop and sample them.. I sampled some nice conga's from fun lovin' criminals albums before.

fuck copyright on drums lol. They'll never be able to recognize it and pinpoint where they came from.

yeah loops do sound good when using them well.

but i prefer to make my own rolling percs... i could never make a good sound... but practice makes perfect.

i can churn out a pretty good rolln percussion sound using computer.

just pitch them down if u want a deep sorta sound... shorten them... change the levels of each hit... so it rolls along in a nice pattern or something. use a couple of differ conga/bongos and give them each a rolln pattern. and use one to hit every note... but have them hit at differ levels... use some reverb n whatnot... and eq to get a thick sound.
