The original amen is quite lowfi sounding, thus are all (tr)amens derived from it, unless extra crisp rides/hats were added by the producers... I use those from the download page quite often, but I always layer to make them sound better.

You're not wrong about that. I don't know if you've noticed but all the normal amens suffer from clipping on the right channel (or it could be the left, I cant remember) and it sounds crap if you listen carefully to it. Even the one I linked to has the clicks in it.

To get rid of them I normally just copy the left channel to a new mono wav, I think this is what most people do as well.
