hmmm... I am quite new in new DnB scene (I was here when it all started, but was away for years). Nowdays everyone seems to have their own genre description.... Is there a genre for mixing DrumnBass and GameBoy -bleeps?
Game´n Bass? Drum´n Boy?
This tune is a mixed bag -affair. Everyone listening this tune, please do not quit after 30 seconds or 2 minutes. It gets MUCH better after a bit weedy and weak start. I am now around 4:30 and DJ Kemix keeps on introducing elements, and varying. This tune played from 5:00 has actually very little to do with same tune played around 2:00. or from start, or more likely closer to end. Interesting... ... and tiresome at the sametime.
You have some fantastic sounds in here. Strings, bells around 7 minutes are really beautifull and well done. There are some absolutely fantastic bass-sounds earlier in the song (0:40 or so). Some beats are really nice too.
My quess is that you have taken a fistfull of drumloops with not much else in common than same tempo, some sounds from soft synths and noodled on top of quickly programmed drum lines. I cannot hear any variation inside one particular drum element, thus I believe youre not programming your beats or introducing any variation to beats.
Altough you have moments of greatness in this tune, second half of the song is SO MUCH better than first half (I hate that Gameboyish start), this tune has too much variation in terms of genre... How would I explain it.. I have difficulties on grasping the point of this tune, when youre changing the drumloops from really aggressive Amen banging to soft beats with no fills, no bridges nothing. Changes are too sudden. You lack consistency and the main point under the song is lost under sudden changes.
Also you use bassline quite little in your tune. More of that!
I suggest this:
Get back to this song, take the second half of the song as a starting point. Get rid of rest. Choose 3-5 drum loops which play well on top of each other and share some similarity. Fatten the sounds at start. Build a strong ambience / melodic world behind the beats. Use 2-3 main elements, and say 5 really small noodles that just help the tune to change from one part to another.
WORK YOUR BEATS. Cut them into small pieces, build fills, introduce effects, but keep the feeling of the beats same. If you have 3 different versions of same 8-bar loop, cut each of them into 1-bar pieces and play with them like with lego bricks.
What you could do, is to analytically listen some good songs in similar genre, and steal ideas and production methods from those songs. One PNFA tune comes into my mind. Check a tune Tinder from http://www.funender.com/music/bands/91/ .
Summa Summarum:
Fantastic ideas, Great sounds, some weedy and weak stuff in here and there, main idea needs simplifying and refining. 6/10

i feel like this is two tunes in one as well. i dig the last one. is way cool, just needs some bass. it wanders around a bit. needs more solid programming. ditch the intro keep the last 2/3. slice up the harp sound. don't roll the complete riff all the time. it spoils the effect of the loop. listen to some established producers. tracks that are out on the dancefloor. they have structure. try to copy them for a second just to get the idea of programming. it seems like you have most of the skills to build just not all the practice to get the layers introduced in the right order. the bass was good in parts but in others it disappeared. the second half rules. use that to rebuild an intro. the atmosphere is key. peace. 6/10

Hi there,
Love the pad and beat that start about 2mins in, would start the track from there really, everything before is a bit too random for me.
