Mine's a lowered and tweaked jx16 'detuned techno lead'-preset with fruity fast distortion added. After i resample it and beafen it up with a sublow sine bass.
And i just discovered if i add some overdrive after distortion it even gets better

for me...hmm..well its usually the trusty old 808 bassline. i know, gotta get out of that rut, but there's soo many fat ass sounds i can get out of the 808 alone.

anything with PSPSaturation on MAX on tape1 or tape2 cranked full +12 input and cranked -12 output. and warmth cranked at 75hz.
some other shit on there also. usually on some sample or simple synth's.
good warmth and distortion.

Never use the same basses , always searching for some subs or mid ... Then see how it sounds distorted.

pure sines mixed with a bit of squaresound for subs and (detuned) squares/triangles/saws for mid-basses. Some FM sometimes sound also nice on mid-bass...

lol I thought it's some sort of an advanced technique... all methods of mixing two oscilators in a synth.. substraction in my experience works if you want a phased sound, additive mode for a fuller sound.. etc
but you make a square bass, and then filter out the edges to make it less harmonic.. hmm interesting, Ill try it out

thats what i like about this music almost anything can be made to be something else as long as you know what you are doing and know how to go about it ...
hell even if you dont know what your are doing the results can be interesting although sometimes painful
