Please check out my new track 'saphir & amok - Arjuna' and post your comments here!!!
Daffy dub aka K-nine from the partizan crew, invited me for a mid-week at a residential place on the sea-shores.
We intented to build somewhat a mixture between cinematic, irie & upfront drum 'n bass. Flavored with some African voices and rhythmic steps.
Very found of the result, k-nine asked me to upload it here, to share it with you all.
techniques: sonar & reason, good food, good coffee and a breathtaking view on the coastlines.

What Saphir forgot to mention:
Loads of coffee, and a blend of the green herbs.. (still got a speeding ticket to pay for our little trip to Hulst, damned!)
SNOW!!!!! (yes it was snowing @ the time, funny to see the beach under a pile of snow)
The food was Chinese.. I remember...
The voices are Indian, not African (He's probably mixed up due to some minor intrest in African ladies I seem to have developed during the last few years)
Little sleep and lots of working (maybe he still got some photo's from the setup, put them online SA4!)
the story behind Arjuna... the songtitle... (hope you haven't forgotten Saphir!)
It was actually a birthday celebration for me, for the first day of this trip was my birthday.
Thats about it, except that I enjoyed the colab very much, thanks SA4, we'll definitely will have to do this again... Maybe round oktober, november we'll have the chance to return there again to make some more tunes... looking forward...
And yes, Amok...
Greetz,
K-nine

Hey you two, great job on the collaboration here. This is really a great track. That Indian voice sounded really great. I like the variations in breaks and the sub bass is definitely hittin' right on. Man, that voice is really good man lol. Definitely fits the vibe of the track real nice. Good percussion edits too man, they flowed real nice with everything. Seemed some spots were a tad empty, like not enough sound/atmosphere, but not really too bad. I think the vocal tracks were the highlight of this number. All in all, it's a great number, an enjoyable listen. Thanks for sharin' and hope you two hit it up again. I'm interested in hearing what you guys come up with next.

i like the arpeggios...i just wish you would've used a different break (the edits and all that are nice, i just would've like to hear a different break instead of the one used) got some nice fx and stuff here and there, but overall the tune feels a bit empty to my ears, like you're relying a little too much on that vocal and the arpeggio...like, for instance, the second drop at 4.30 would've made more of an impact if you would've left out the vocal and arp, since you changed up the basslines a bit after that...all in all a pretty solid tune

OK, that was a bollocks review, since I know you like that kind of reviews that much
Here's the real one:
Like the eiry feel to it
Nice tramenz, nice groove to them. Maybe some nice crisp rides over them would be nice just to give them a tad more high-end...
Like how the vocals are used. Not in an in-your-face way
The whole track just sounded a tad to slow to me though...

Actually,
That was part of the plan, to make the main drums slow, heavy and pounding, a bit dublike, and to make it a bit more rolling with the other drums and percussions... Thought it would give it a bit more of a 'ethnic'' feeling. It has become a bit of a clash of both our ideas, and that was just what I hoped to get out of it. An eiry dubby feeling, ethnic influences, and yet heavy pounding... thanks to the producing skillz from mr. Saphir that's just what came out...
But many thanks for the comment, glad you liked it...
