SILENT WITNESS (UK)

A devoted follower of techno-influenced drum & bass, Silent Witness adds a new edge & attitude, combining elements of the deep & uplifting within his tear-out dance floor productions.
First surfacing as Brainiac on breakbeat label Stratosphere Recordings, his powerful sound soon caught the attentions of many including The Plump DJ’s who included ‘Neuro’ (2001), his acid-tinged debut, on their Urban Underground (INCredible) mix and Sony Music who licensed the track for the soundtrack to the video game Wipeout Fusion (Sony Playstation 2).
Infamous producer and No U Turn Records boss, Nico picked up on Brainiac and unearthed a budding drum & bass producer. He quickly signed ‘Contact’ to No U Turn in 2002 and released two more singles; ‘Higher Rates’ and ‘Invasion’ (both collaborations with partner in crime Break) in quick succession.
Working under a different guise, Silent Witness quickly established himself as a musical tour de force, finding favour with a host of top flight DJ’s, labels and audiences across the world.
With releases on Commercial Suicide, DSCi4, Metalheadz, Subtitles, Obscene, Critical, Quarantine and DNAudio; the label he established with co-conspirator Squire in 2003, Silent Witness has a strong platform to push his uniquely devastating sound to an even wider audience.
Never one to stick to a genre, Silent Witness has recently started engineering for Spilt Coffee, a London based House outfit whose recent debut ‘Heavy Shoulders’ has received widespread acclaim. Other projects include a house single forthcoming on Glasgow based Soma Records’ imprint, Darkroom Dubs.
SKC (HUN)

Few would argue that Hungary, one of the smallest of the former communist countries in Eastern Europe has been put on the map of drum’n’bass by SKC [30] amongst others. After becoming a classical music fan and training himself to play the piano during his teenage years, SKC was converted to electronic music by a live experience: a party in 1998 with Ed Rush in the main slot where SKC was sucked in by a mysterious Wormhole… …and when he appeared again he was ready to make his own drum’n’bass beats.
He had his first notable releases on Trace’s DSCI4 imprint, some of which got rinsed by many of the elite players all over the globe. Since then, having got in touch with some of the biggest names in the scene, his tunes have been enjoying support from the likes of Klute, Concord Dawn, Ed Rush, BSE, Pendulum, Flight, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Digital, Spirit, Matrix, Marky, Dieselboy, Andy C and so on. Representing his own and his fellow Hungarian producers’ sound all over Europe in the last few years, he’s played in the UK, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and now for the first time in Belgium. As his classical training suggests, SKC tries to inject some musical elements into d’n’b both in the studio and behind the decks, but he doesn’t mind the odd dancefloor anthem either. Like a rollercoaster ride, his sets cover the whole spectrum of this varied genre from the dubby sounds and rollers through the big smashers and vocal hits to the minimalistic techno vibes.
Apart from his collabs with Chris.su and his solo projects, he’s also involved in the TACTILE collective [Chris.su, Skc, Safair, Longman and Bratwa]. Tactile has appeared on Timeless, Commercial Suicide, Inneractive and Function among other labels.
In the next couple of months, watch out for SKC on Hospital, Critical Recordings and Commercial Suicide.
CONTRADICTION
Our Belgian guest comes from the Stardust camp. This guy likes to make mixes with music to watch girls by, he's one of the driving forces behind the Emphasize parties and:
“A Contradiction-set can be described as a mix with Quality tunes, new ones as well as classics from time to time, fast and long mixes and steady build-up. His neverending search for combos sometimes makes him pull his hair out but makes him stand out of the others...”
