I realised I was making a grave error - I have no monitors, I use headphones, and my system volume was on 1 so I was pushing everything WAY too hard. Sorted this out so hopefully the levels are much better now. Had a rethink on some of the synths used and hopefully things are now a bit better on that front too. Am still working on this but keep the comments coming, they're much appreciated.

Ok, here is my first attempt using sampled breaks. I've got for a much darker sound than I ever have before, and tried to use some really distorded elements - however, given my monitoring situation I can't really be sure if they are giving the desired affect or if they just sound distorted in a bad way. As to the breaks used, yeah, they are the usual susects chopped up, but I've been dying to write stuff like this for ages. It's fun!
There's a couple of points I know I need to sort out where elements clash and result in a bassy mess, but would appreciate some feedback on the track at this stage - cheers!

im realy liken this one! cool style and structure.. i like all the sounds
drum programming is wicked.. you just need to get your levels right.. high end has been boosted too much... leaving the bass sounding kinda week and overpowered

The drums need a lil boost, they lack impact...
