I realised I was making a grave error - I have no monitors, I use headphones, and my system volume was on 1 so I was pushing everything WAY too hard. Sorted this out so hopefully the levels are much better now. Had a rethink on some of the synths used and hopefully things are now a bit better on that front too. Am still working on this but keep the comments coming, they're much appreciated. Wink

Ok, here is my first attempt using sampled breaks. I've got for a much darker sound than I ever have before, and tried to use some really distorded elements - however, given my monitoring situation I can't really be sure if they are giving the desired affect or if they just sound distorted in a bad way. As to the breaks used, yeah, they are the usual susects chopped up, but I've been dying to write stuff like this for ages. It's fun!

There's a couple of points I know I need to sort out where elements clash and result in a bassy mess, but would appreciate some feedback on the track at this stage - cheers!

Hey man, sorry it took me a few days to get back since you fixed that link. The track is pretty heavy but I'm not sure I think that synth bass you use sounds too good. For me personally it's too overpowering and the panned delay on it kinda makes it hard to hear it. The break work is really good, but I think it could use a better bassline overall to it, like some bassline stabs with more melody. Seems the breaks get a little swallowed up in the bass sometimes too, kinda liike where they drown out for a moment then come back. Also, the intro was alright, but I think it needs to slam in a little harder on the drop. I'm assuming this is still just a rough edit right? You had some good sounds in there but just sounds like the levels need to be fixed and put in a more solid bassline and I think this track would be rokkin' hard. Keep it goin' man and lookin' forward to hearing how this one progresses Bigup

im realy liken this one! cool style and structure.. i like all the sounds

drum programming is wicked.. you just need to get your levels right.. high end has been boosted too much... leaving the bass sounding kinda week and overpowered

The drums need a lil boost, they lack impact...

Nah really...The energy is there..The drums are a way to light on the low end...and the disto-synth lead Huh turned me off quickly.. I cant really say that I like this tune...The drum reinforcements are programmed quite well whereas the actual break was not... The mixdown could have gotten a lil more attention also ..It seemed a bit on the muddy side..Overall 4/10 Keep em comin tho'
