Hey all, just taking a stab at releasing my first work in progress to the boards here. It's real short and far from complete, but I'm just trying to get some opinions on the direction I'm going with this like whether it just blatantly sucks or should I keep going, what could be better, etc.. Alot of the one shots and the ambient sounds were taken from some of the sample packs for download on this site, unfortunately off hand I can't give exact names who the packs belong too, but know they're not all mine. I try to change up alot of the sounds and make them as different as possible. The bassline and breaks are mine tho. Anyhow, I'm not sure if this is too short but it's a start for me, and hopefully by the time I can upload a new version it'll be the finished one. I know it's real rough and not quite up to my standards, but just looking to get some input. Not much else to say, so hope you enjoy!

EDIT: This track ha sbeen updated in another post with the finished track. Just waiting to get this deleted.

Nice intro... sounds all good so far although perhaps a tiny little bit muffled, may be my shitty speakers though!

Only other thing I'd say is at first I thought the second of the double sub stabs was too early (first instance at 1:21), but it does go with the drums so it's probably intentional, it just sounded a bit odd when I first heard it. Perhaps I was expecting it to be later, so it was a surprise, and I suppose that's a good thing. Smile

Quality so far though - looking forward to hearing how it progresses...

Intro : much variation , levels are good , ...great
drop : Don't be shy , pump up the volume. Bass is good but ad a phat sub to it and maybe a reece too. I should layer the drums too imo.

hello just listening to your track. The noises in the begining are great. Wow thats pretty sweet man! I like everything about it but it needs to be longer is it just a preview? Anyway that was totally sick hope to see more from you.

lol, my bad, I didn't want anyone to get the wrong impression when I said my first work in progress to the boards here, I just meant this is my first track HERE lol. I've only produced a few full length tracks in the past and ended up posting them up at Acid Planet which I ended up pulling down cuz well, AP just sucks and the Dnb scene there is dead anymore. So my apologies for the misunderstanding.

Well if you're talking about the bass stabs, I did those with two 808 bass drums, one distorted and filtered with some eq'ing, and an unprocessed 808 bass drum for the sub bass. Then I applied some pitch shifting to the bass drum for the stab effect. Hope this is what you meant.

nice atmospheric intro

bass stabs would work better with some more bass behind them, especially in the drop and after, but the sound is on the other hand pretty good

drums: some snare hits are off but I guess that was intentional, sounds a bit strange imo. maybe a good idea would be putting a straight drumline, erm, a more classic one later in the track so it would make a nice contrast to this scattered one. I like the hats work

maybe the bline could do with more changes, it does sound good with the stabs but it would maybe become sounding somewhat dull as the song progresses

I like this so far though and am interested with what will become of it
