I've also dug in my movie collection and hit the library for history channel type documentaries.
I don't know where you hail from but around my way we have used record shops called "The
Record exchange" and I've found all kinds of stuff on vinyl from famous historical speeches to
original 1969 Marine corps radio recruting adverts (complete with war sounds and propaganda)

I always use google to get my stuff, it's a lil' searchshit but it pays off ...
Just search voice-samples in combination with other words like movie, music, funny, cool, short, ... you know what I mean ..
Or you can speak them into your mic yourself
, change them a lil' and you'll never hear it's you ...
Good luck with the search

you know, you can make "real" gun sounds.
recognizable gun sounds, by the mass populace (everyone), are ALL entirly bmade up, all the gun sounds in games, tv, movies, there all fake. gun's really just sound like popping noises.
all other gun sounds, are just layers of sounds, from bricks, to cannon shots, to streched out tap's to pretty much everything you can think of, that is NOT a gun.
just something you should know if you want war sounds.
you just do that, add reverb on it, and you got a gun sound than.
hell i could probably make a few.
