Alright heres a good idea . . . let me copy your stuff!
Everybody post screenshots of the wicked rythyms they've made, with the different drums clearly labelled. I'm obviously talking about home made ones mainly.
I think this would be a wicked way to share ieas and techniques, and I would be the first to contribute to such an altruistic concern, but I'm writing this from work and wont have proper access to the net till i get back to university.
Still though really would appreciate any contributions and I guarantee that when I get a chance I will hit you up with some heavy riddems. 
EDIT: by the way, i am not herby condoning wholesale copying: I just think first off these would be very useful to beginers, and secondly, to give new ideas to the more advanced. once you have the basic idea, its very easy to personalise. Of course I'm not suggesting you give away any proper "secret weapon" beats, but I for one would be interested to see how other people create bongo patterns, drops etc

thanks for that useful reply. of course i am not interested in hearing from everybody who doesn't want to contribute. still if you do feel the urge to post come what may, perhaps you could leave some rationale for your decision rather than just mmmm yeah dont think so.
honestly, this is not an ide for my personal benefit, as i feel nowadays quite competent to make my own beats. but i remember when i was starting out, finding it very dfficult to reach anything like a proper level of complexity. the resources i fund on the web were rather limited aswell. therefore i thought it would be useful chiefly to beginners, but also to the more advanced to do this.

are you sure? sometimes i see huge huge images being posted on forums. doesnt it depend upon the resolution of the screenshot or something?

on my mac at home theres an option under one of the headings in the finder . . . pc's dunno, but im sure its simple and someone'll know

there's a key on your keyboard called "Print screen"
(most of the time:
Prt Scr
Sysrq )
Above the "delete" and "insert" key
press that button and go to paint or whatever you're using for pix
and then just.. "paste"

What musicprogram are you using? Magix? Doesn't it take time to make your drums in a audiosequencer like that? Don't you have a pattern player like in FL studio to just klick the hit?

most of my beats exist of more than 40 sounds, combined, layered, cut up again, etc.
