Adobe has bought Syntrillium Software, the makers of Cool Edit Pro, which will now be further developed and sold by Adobe.

My guess is that this is another software company in big trouble because of widely spread pirating of their programs...

Is Cool Edit Pro often used in professional environments? And is there a huge difference with the big player Pro Tools, or is it stupid to compare these two. Frankly I don’t know Pro Tools (as you can guess). I like Cool Edit a lot though.

the bad thing about it is that the security on the program and the price-tag will be much higher.
the good thing is that adobe always provides a great easy and professional soft.

Hmmm, as far as I know, there is less protection in Photoshop than in CEP... (haven't tried Photoshop 7 yet tho)

i must agree; and surya photoshop 7 is just a SN protection just like the rest of them.
cool edit was way over priced compared to wavlab and soundforge (which in my opinion blows cool edit out of the water)....but i wish adobe all the best of luck; i hope they can do something nice and productive with cool edit.
