Ok lets find out which tracks, albums, artists were responsible for getting you into drum & bass?

Mine were:
The 'mission control' album on trouble on vinyl
Beckoning by Konflict on hardware
Future cut remix of 'the code' by absolute zero & subphonics on hardware

Not the most obvious choices but the aggression, anger & darkness of the two hardware tracks & the unreal sounds on mission control just struck a chord with me

I was completely blown away the first time I heard them through my mates fat sub

goldie - inner city life

Not sure. Must have been one of the tunes on Drum & Bass Armageddon (what a CD!) or Matrix - Sleepwalk. Or maybe John B & MC Justyc - Double J? Don't remeber... Was somwhere towards the end of 99, that I remember

Same tunes same year! Both hardware tunes I mentioned were off that CD. Its a real killer & imo it still stands today as one of the best d&b albums ever released.

.. Must have been the famous UK 'pirate' broadcastings.

Funny...When i was that young, in the 'sixties', my father
gave me a radio driven by vacuum tubes, also known as..
VALVES! Something a lot like this:

Soul music happens to be my favourite.. James Brown
was there, Stevie wonder, Motown, Winstons? etc.
Probably a first (subconscious) meeting with the
almighty breaks and amens.

No Dillinja yet but definitely VALVE SOUND, VALVE SOUND!!

The tunes that got me into jungle were off of a mix tape from 1993 so I have no idea what they are called - but I'll try to describe them:
the first tune that blew me away had a drop that had a 16th note bass drum roll with "wwwaaaaatttcccccchhhhhh tttthhhhhiiiiiiiiiiissssssssss" time stretched over it, followed by a huge pounding octave/fifth bass line. The other tune is a classic and still gets played in many old school sets and is clearly characterized by a reverse female vocalist and progresses into an insanely chopped up amen breaks. (These were the 2nd and 5th tracks on a classic DJ Sniper mix from 93). If anyone knows these tracks - please let me know - much appriciated!
