I don't get it...
Na + O2 --> Na2O isn't correct,
so we need to do this:
Na 1x1 --> 1x2 (isn't correct)
O 1x2 ---> 1x1 (isn't correct)
SO WE NEED TO ADD SUMTHIN!

=> 4Na + O2 --> 2Na2O

and that is what we call "correct" ??

I had a drunkard chemistry teacher in elementary.. hence I cant help you there lol

but I do remember the presentation of the Natrium being dropped into the water
you have to add such a small amount of Na cause the process excesses a large amount of er, energy
she was boozed and she accidentaly dropped a 2cm-2cm cube of Na into a glass of wate...r

BANG! coupled by lard everywhere.... the first row of students were washed in it, had to go directly to the showers

edit: just remembered: thats how you make the Na2O!!!

Na+H2O -> Na2O + Hydrogen (excessed with energy)

Chemistry way too long ago but i'll give it a try

Well atoms want to be stable this means "octetstrucure" (or eight electrons on the outer side)

Natrium has 1 on the outer side and that's 1 too many
Oxygen has 6 on the outer side so that's 2 too short
(if I'm not mistaking, doing this by head and stuff)

So you need 2 Na for just 1 O, this means you will make Na2O
but you start from Na and O2 (this is how its stable in nature)
So you make this into
4 times Na and one time O2 so you got 2 Na2O

hope you understand it now.

mine once needed to be taken to teh hospital becus she had breath in some HCl

they sure are .... once we had a fire alarm at school ( it was just a practice alarm) and we all went out to the central court .... when we returned , we smelled some gas ... it appeared that our dear chemistry teacher had left the "bunsenbrander" ( a gas thrower or something ? I dont know the right english term) open ...

Nice one , when our school actually is trying to prevent anything from happening , our teacher almost made the school explode , it would just have taken some fire from a lighter or something Roll Eyes

It's the fact im in 4th Mathematics - Science and we first got an uncapable prof for 1.5 year, then a month the "directeur" and now a shemale...
And then i should still like fysics... Frown

Natrium? Is that would you call Na? It's Sodium over here.

But yes, just remember the octet rule, and balance the electrons. Chemistry is really easy. If you find this hard, wait till you get into stoichiometry, hydrocarbons, and thermochemical reactions.
