Please check out my new track 'Sykotronic (Boys in the Hood Remix)' and post your comments here!!!

This is an update/remix of this track. I made some changes to the the original, and remixed it with Boys in the Hood. It came out pretty damn good, I think you will all be pleased...

very old skool sounds - too much for my taste

the guy said lets put some piano: where is it?

you got to crank up the levels of everything - too soft

whats that - reverbated scratch? dont get it

not too fond of that synth after the drop in 00:45 think it needs saturation, if youre in Reason add some short and strong reverb or use the chorus effect

filtering of it is the right idea, just maybe overdone in here

acidy bass should be dropped at times - feels a bit like its droning around

the drums are good however - especially the part in 2:56 where you indroduce the steppy highat. DO VARIATIONS dammit. you have great opportunities in that part, imho

you got the flow, and the vibe going on for sure, but it gets messed up in times, that background synth/pad doesnt do much xcept confusing

overall it sounds like a live session recorded in a garage dunno if its good or wot?

peace

dont remember what i said bout the original but ehre goes Wink

personal taste not really feeling the vocal in parts sort of a unnecessary contrast, and just a bit out of time in parts.

yeah but i like the beat, think maybe should be made a bit louder, cos its good.

i alos like the riff bass. you know the desending bit (0:52) is the right sound imo, but the replying reece or whatever (0:56 for example) doesnt sound right to me. good idea, but choose a different sound, maybe its overly detuned or something . . .

yeah basically i do like this, though it needs tweaking chiefly the vocals.

enjoyable listen and asome good ideas . . . .

Cool song dude, Vocals sound cool and oldschool indeed Pleased Sometimes a little offbeat ... you shoul've put the volume up a bit ...

The drum-line is cool the scratches sound great, did you do them yourself???

Intro and outro are similar and sound good ... overall song is a bit empty ...

7.5/10 Nice work

I just listened to this track on a different computer and something is hellishly wrong.... Confused the levels are all jacked up! On my own computer the drums are totally rocking, but on this one I can barely hear them. Let me know when reviewing how the levels sound...you may need to EQ this to listen to it

good tune, you need to build it up and there needs to be a more rolling bassline.

nice beats, nice samples, nice bassline - but could do with being expanded upon and not too keen on the acid, maybe cos its repeated so much

8/10

very old skool sounds

Of coarse it sounds oldschool... it is a remix of a song from 1988 Easy-E "Boys in the Hood" . I can't believe nobody knows this tune, or even recognises Easy's voice. Well if you don't know Easy-E was one of the original members of NWA aka "Niggas with Attitude" you may have heard of them; Ice Cube, DR Dre, Easy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella. Easy-e died of aids back in the 90's.

This track is made up of my original track Sykotronic that I posted a little while back and "Boys in the hood" just basically matched up the beats and faded parts in (via Acid 4.0)...A little chopping, EQing and some Digital Delay plus an additional 808 snare.
My oriiginal track was made entirely in Reason it consists of 1 original break, elements from 3 sampled breaks, some hits and bass sounds triggered by the drum machine, and 1 synth bass sound plus a ton of effects. Your basic build-up/break-down structure with a fill/dropped element every 4 measures and a more significant fill every 8 or 16. Mostly beat-centric track.

you know the boys in the hood are always hard...an they still are
for me this track worked out immensely great(intro a litlle less) although i think the vocals should make more sense cuz ez's jus talking shit in this song.

but remixin' eazy e's boys in the hood in a fucking good way ...respect for that
syko but the track had a realy fat thing going on with the bells now thes bells should've been more present in your remix i think
but anyway it's great remixing of a great song as it was.
give you 8/10(i'lm realy in to oldskool remxin) Big Grin

what's up junglist soldier! Like the begining. The one part where it kind of stutters before the drop could be on a little more. It's a good idea you should syncronize a little better but only when the hip hop beat comes back in. The track itself is cool. Is that you scratching or is it in the track I don't really listen to much hip hop. Only complaint is that the drums should be crazier. Be fun to play live. Good work!

Nice bright production, vocals are mixed very well. Big bass sound but a bit smooth and chorused for my liking. Drums should change up at the drop. Old school track - nice production but drums are lacking punch and hats are too light - could use another layer. Nonetheless I'm liking the old step style - fat and full of attitude with some nice old breakdance flavour. Last sample doesn't quite fit. 6.5/10
