Politics is getting in the way of making music! TDM looks down on DX/VST for no reason other than pure snobbery, and it is costing us! Many companies that make products you know and love are AFRAID to code to DX/VST as they fear THEY will be looked upon as NOT a professional company. This is keeping us from getting the plugs we need for the apps we love. Please let these guys know this isnt true, and that we make great music using apps that support DX/VST. Can Pro (monopoly) Tools use Accoustic Mirror? NO!
Company A's app uses DX but no VST, as if adding VST will be like cowtowing to Steinborg. BS! company A you are STOPPING your paying customers from using the resources they need just so you can act apart from your competition! Last time I checked, Neve had patchbays on their consoles and were NOT worried about whether someone would patch in an SSL compressor! DOnt deny us our tools! Same thing goes for ASIO.
I also ask that we do not support any new proprietary formats. The TC and Waves DSP cards will be out soon, with the designation " powercore VST " if this lets you run existing VST plugz, then cool, fine great. But if it instead asks you to buy plugz all over again, or worse that you have to give up more than ONE of your precious PCI slots then boo on them!

shouldnt this be in the production bit......?!?!
anyway.........

who cares........i got all the synthesizers and plug ins im gonna need for the next ten years!!!!!!! you dont need to be involved in some race for the newest bit of kit, its a waste of time......learn the things you have got inside out.......youll become a better producer/programmer than anyone who thinks they need the latest piece of kit to be fresh......

why do you think people still have vintage bits of kit lying around in their studios.........its the same reason they still have their akai 3000 sitting there.....cause they can get it done tighter and quicker cause they know the kit.

just use what you need to get the job done.........

Well, look in the future a bit:

as this has GREAT CHANCES that it has a hidden plan within the public mask of "killing DX/VST", because it is a HUGE hit on the music industry (juz like the fucked Napster), then we can conclude that

if:

- they forbid the DX/VST, then this technology will turn to underground -> which means less control over its development.
This can impose creation of independant DX/VST engines to run the plugins... which is nice, by the way.

Anyway, I don't think that they will do this - I mean, politics can do whatever it wants but DX/VST is way too much spread-out to be killed in this way - it is like breath to producers.
