Im not hundred ppercent as to what an archetypal jump up tune is, maybe someone could name one, but so long as it isn't Puretone -Totally Addicted to Bass or something of a similar ilk, I judge the tune upon its own merits. The whole myriad of stupid subgenres, despite stifling creativity, also has a really fucking adolescent ring to it. To make a wider point, and at the risk of going a bit Halph Price on everyone, thats one of the main problems with art music etc today, unlike all the great movements of the past, we try to define and labe ourselves, rather than leave it up to posterity. Shows something of an insecurity I think.

yeah, I second broadside..

fucking annoying, it is. like going to a party with someone constantly babbling about the style which is played, criticizing tunes which are heard, etc.

as for that labeling stuff.. jump up, why not?!?! if it makes its place in the set, it's ok even to hear some of it. I don't like when a DJ has this "style" which says "all I play is darkstep", or neurofunk even jump up for that matter.

what is good, imo is a varying mix, one which brings you up, no matter of the style, even if the styles mix, now I don't mean this being forced
out (it happens) but with sensibility, so it does make sense..

i wouldnt call that jump-up, more just 'popular dnb'.
Jump up is more like baron, twisted individual, generation dub, distorted minds.
but everything that's got a "bd sn bdbdsn"(aka "bom tjak bombetjak") inside is jump up

aphrodite is commonly known as the king of jump-up. I also like pretty much all kinds of dnb, so it doesn't matter to me as long as the vibe is right.

lol. jimmy man you got this spot on if u ask me.i fucking hate the stuff...aphrodite, twisted individual and that generation dub shit really pisses me off...and what makes it worse is all the bigger djs are playing it.which really screws up the style because the youngsteres that hear it in the clubs think its what dnb is all about.......and if they evolve into producers theyyll probably make that style, cause thats what sells because its what gets more coverage.
im not totally against it , but it really pisses me off when its all that gets played, ok one or two tracks in a well built set is fair enough....but when its constant wobbly filtered lfo action i resent paying good money.
gimme some dom n roland or klute above this crap anyday.

i don't hate the wobbly stuff nor do i love it and listen to it all day every day....
it's just that most of the tracks i've listened to are very techy and thought that was the general style of most people on here.
and don't get me wrong i love the techy too!!!!
in fact i love it all!!!!
