I have changed the google ads. I hope it will be less obstructive and will generate some more income.

For registered members:
- the ugly blue Google banner at the top of the page is gone
- a few google ads are shown inside threads now in neutral colours. They are only shown in threads which have many replies.

For guests:
- the ugly blue banner remains, and a lot of ads are shown in the threads.

Before the big forum update the ads were working really well, but alas only for a couple of days. Last month the profit from the ads was the lowest of the entire year, even though the site broke a new record with 22000 visitors and 320000 pageviews. I had a revenue of less than 30 euro on the whole month...

Would anyone be interested in browsing the site completely ad free for say half a euro a month?

thats about a dollar a mnth for me... 12$ a year? haha yea...i could do taht...lol that aint shit..and if you get all the registered members to payt 50 cents a mnth...holy shit tahts a lot of loot...not only will that take care of almost the entire expense it should give you some extra loot in your pocket...

onyl if people are wiling to pay...

Around 2 hours to actually make it, and 4 hours of research yesterday evening Wink

It did not turn out like I had it in mind originally, now the ads are inserted underneath the signature instead of in seperate rows, but it was too much work to figure out how to make it work with the alternating backgrounds.

I need 1800 euro a year to cover the costs, so that would mean 300 members paying 6 euro a year. Probably some more since I suppose paypal deducts a percentage for incoming cash, but that could be covered by guests clicking on google ads Wink

I think we maybe have a core of around 50 regular members who would be willing to cough up 6 euro.

I could make some special features though for people who pay, maybe some exclusive sample packs or something?

lol, use the internet card, you do have one of those there? you cant go in the minus thus noone cant steal from you, its perfectly safe as it has no information of you whatsoever.. you cash in the amount to be paid exactly from the bank and make the transaction..

I think it's really convenient to buy stuff over the internet and get it sent to your house, and some stuff (like hosting etc) cannot be done otherwise anyway.

If you think your computer is not secure, why don't you do something about it? Or is it maybe a shared one?

no my computers only used by me.i can guarentee that 100%.
but ive had messages left in my notepad in cubase for example......and its not someone playing a prank. i just dont trust the damn things, ive had to many trojans and virus, probably from dodgy software or p2p...so its my own fault....

I'm up for it..... Even 10 Eur / year is not a big pain in the ass and it brings down the numbers of members needed to cover your cost.... about 180, should not not be so difficult to reach...... And you can still sell shirtsssssss!!!!!!! Big Grin
