Drum machines are usually from the eighties, so it will have an electro feel.

The best sampling drummachines are : Linn9000 ; Emu SP1200 ; Akai MPC60 ; Akai MPC3000 ; Akai MPC2000 ; Akai MPC1000 ; Akai MPC4000 .
The first 3 are the one's to go for . And all these machines are very well suited for drum & Bass music . It's very eazy and fun to get realy good drumloops with these machines . Just listen to old hiphop records and you will hear the groove of one of these machines .
Greetings Dirk .
P.s. Keep this a nice site please .

I think he meant to sample the sound of drum machines, not drum machines with a built in sampler

I believe a lot of 'today's producers' layer with drum machine hits just BECAUSE of the fatness

The older analoge drumboxes are "funny" sounding . So a must have when you want to make electro . Most of them are useless for drum&bass .

mc-303 make sevral jungle drum sounds, so i am told, and have some which i am told are froma mc-303. kraftwerk and depeche mode also used that, this would be considered a "toy" by most of you guys, but this lil groovebox is what i desire.

that and easyier to get the exact sound eq that you need, instead of having to set up drums, cancle out unwanted ambience, have micraphones that record full spectrum, tune the skins, have a a/d converter, and such, where as fiddle with some knobs, make a great base fro a kick or snare, or hihats...

full respect for the little demon! 303 has revolutionized electronical music in many ways.. the acid sound is originating from it actually, that sound is the father of many filtered basslines or other "ravey" ones now imo..
but, it's limited, and you mentioned it in the drums department, it's greatest value was two synths AND a drum machine (can't remember which one) in one box, and not that expensive either. but that drum machine was hardly ever used by the pros

The cool thing about the MC-303 is the groove quantize a very useful function . The sound is , as all modern roland gear , very usefull but not the best money can buy .
For a bit less than 150 euro's you'll have a nice drumbox with all the other sounds to make a song fast . And the thing I like best about it : It's not a computer !!!
I say go for it , It will make you smile .
Greetings Dirk .

my next investment will be a groovebox. i've been looking for one, i got a cr-1000 with nice sounds actually. and have already made a decent enough break from the drum sounds, as a base to layer on.

hmm, i have one i seriously consider selling.
I must say however, that the 'jungle' sounds aren't that great, they sound pretty cheesy/awkward,... there must be MUCH better synths around for a bit more money. If i were you, i'd seriously consider buying one of those...
What are the advantages of a 303? => it works as a midi-keyboard (that's ànd the reason why i have been using it for so long, ànd the reason why i want to sell it and buy an m-audio,... midi-keyboard with assdignable parameters.
I'd say the 303 is more of a live-thingie, the customisable user patterns/knobs/fx make it an intuitive live-instrument BUT, the workmemory is very limited, don't go thinking you can save up to 10 songs each with different FX-settings, different user patterns,..., it simply crashes.. quite bizar for a piece of hardware, but i got usezd to it after working on my pc..
