Yeah, I mess with it - in fact, I use it every day! It helps/works by changing your brain frequency by inducing a change throught your ears and/or visibility.
There are 4 types of frequencies on which our brain works:
Delta 0.5–4Hz Deep sleep
Theta 4–8Hz Drowsy (also first stage of sleep)
Alpha 8–14Hz Relaxed but alert
Beta 14–30Hz Highly alert and focused
And the theory is: if you make a sound of 1000Hz on the left ear, and 1015Hz on the right ear, the summated sound is their difference, or 1015 - 1000 = 15Hz. If you listen long enough to this sound you will get into Highly Alert and Focused brain state.
It is always better to be graduately going to the wanted frequency, ex. like gradualy declining the summative frequency (from, say, 30Hz to 5Hz) because the brain is more receptive to the change that way.
Anyway, I used this technique in a tune of mine, played it on the dancefloor, and all became so drowsy and sleepy, juz like someone put some sound-induced drug in their drinks. I can upload the tune for you somewhere, because it is a techno-tune
Anyway, this goes into the Offtopic Banter section... moving...

the best one is a reaktor plug in......but this type of thing doesnt work on everyone, so muaddibs everyon got drowsy cant be right......it really depends on how susceptible an individual is to sounds, its like hypnotism, if u dont want to be hypnotised you wont be......beleive me ive looked into this, ive been checking out sonic weapons and other shit like this for a while. its debateable how much is fact and how much is myth. good subject though

has your neighbour stolen your parking space........simple... destroy his car with sound!! all you need is a speaker capable of handling the power.

speaking of which, there was something in the news today about the cleaning properties of sound. apparently it makes a far more cost and enviromentally friendly and effective means of cleaning than water. Apparenttly in the furutre we will all be having sound showers!
