Well of coruse you could use the PSP vintage warmer...that shti rocks...
But there is also a clever trcik of recording from your output onto a DAT cassette and recording back...and wula...then fallow up with your mastering...
you samples and sonds should be nice and warm
woot woot...
Peet actualyl gave me the diea...and spud elaborated more on the DAT cassette...Had a friend do it...it works wonders

i hear of some artist, just running it through outboard equpiment, like there mixing board, just to get a bit of grit to it. forget whcih one, but he was a big electronica one.
i tihnk that DAT idea is a good one, that's why they were used and still are...
there's PSP MixSAturator, and stuff, there great, with the valve drives....

the vintage warmer, is just good for giving some distortion lightly, and bringing levle's up. like saturation. basslines that need some high end, tracks that are too quiet... never found it that good either.

lol. the DAT thing is bullshit.........digital audio tape is exactly what it says on the tin.
the professional way to do it is to have your stereo signal from your computer/whatever.....sent to reel to reel. then once recorded send it back to your computer for burning. been there and done it......sounds pukka.....can be a little expensive though. loads of peeps use this technique.bassment jaxx, groove armada etc etc. but real warmth can only be achieved with valves......but for fucks sake people!!!!your making dnb, its meant to be cold and harsh.......

I don't think that the DAT thing is complete bullshit. You have to put your signal through analog cable first, and every A/D and D/A has it's own "sound" in a way, so it will definately bring some small changes in your sound. Offcourse it won't be like putting it on analog tape or through tubes, but if you want a little bit of subtle warmth it can work.

DAT is digital, no warmth there. Having the signal go through A/D and D/A stages doesn't typically improve your sound at all.
btw Halph, 24 track tapes, not 64
They are still used a lot nowadays. Every good studio has them. They sound incredibly good on full range signals, much better than any digital system. If I mix electronic music I put most tracks on analog tape (definitely the kick, snare, bass, vocals and lead sounds) before doing the mixdown.

How about putting the signal trough your (tube/valve?) guitar amplifier?

welll the DAT it self might not make it incredible but still it's just running it through the outboard equipment that does it, and with an a/d d/a would keep it sounding good, as a cheap alternative. it wouldn't color the sound as much but would just take away the entirly clean sound the cold sound of digital, during the A part of the D/A

Hello?
Meant to?
P...lease!
music isn't 'meant to be' anything expect the artists' perception.
When has Spirit or Digital ever sounded cold and harsh?
I think the sound of alot of the nero-funk/tech side of dnb at the moment needs to warm up.
But hey music is subjective and that's only my opinion "for fucks sake"
