dnb in Amsterdam is dead !!!

for dnb the place to be is The Hague (den haag/la haye) or Rotterdam. in holland you can easily go and party in one city and come back home by night trains.

on 18/06 in the Hague there you get Major League. Thisis gonna be held for the first time in 't Paard which rocks Rinse . i'll be there celebrating my birthday Big Grin

fair enough.. Big Grin

just two things :
1. beware of MC Dapper (ask Soi about his opinion.. Big Grin )
2. beware also if you smoke blunts because they wouldn't let you smoke blunts in that venue (not that people don't do it, but if they see it they confiscate it)

for the rest.. enjoy Bigup

bizzarre! a place in belgium with spanish emceeing. you continentals . . . Knownothing

but why the fuck do your emcees speak english? i mean i know some people are good at english there, but surely it completely defeats the object if you fifty per cent of the people cant understand what the fuck hes saying.

lol "i vont you orll to zztart giving it ups for ze DJ Tito . . . vee ave ways of making you rave" Big Grin

still though its probably a good thing cos on the set im listening to, the MC says something about once every half hour. hes the quitest mc ive ever heared ROFL

he only ever speaks when its the build, and when he actually goes with the beat Hihi

still though, i guess if you check out the drumnbass arena website you'll hear far worse english ones - and they got no excuse . . .

sets cool though

think it's a good thing when mc's start mc'ing in other languages than english, makes it more fun. And Spanish is cool as fuck!!
So mc's learn Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Arabic languages, Russian, Japanese, Inuit, as long mc'in in it sounds cool Big Grin

Dunno, sometimes people just don't like something, but they don't know why. I don't know why I don't like nuts, I just don't.

I only head MC Futureline doing some German MCing, but since he just sucks as an MC anyway, I didn't like it. Dunno.

i think emceeing has a lot of potential: it could really enhance the music if the emcees came out with non generic, meanigful and even a bit poetic lyrics. the best drum and bass mcs in my book are the ones who take every other beat, rather than try and just go as fast as possible, cos it frees them up to be meaningful. but at the moment the only useful function they serve is to "break the ice" at a rave . . . dunnno why really, but people seem to be a bit more at ease if some guys blabbring up the front than if its just a dj at first. i assume this is why you have them in countries where hes not even using the same language Confused

could be true, but their are other reasons why some rap in a language that is not their own. I for one mc in english in stead off my native language (dutch) just because i find it easier to power up the words/rhymes. English is more universall and to me it just sounds more convincing then dutch.
On the other hand, i m working on some german shizzle as well (just cause it s funny Wink ) and i can only wish my french where a bit better cause that is "the" language if you wanna be poetic.

But the poetic issue is often underestimated. Like DOC already pointed out here some time ago, dnb is not hiphop. In DNB, the music dominates, or at least should dominate, the vibe while the mc interacts with it. This does not always give you the chance to be poetic cause, compared too the mc, the music is up very loud and few people actually listen to what we say.
Hiphop on the other hand is almost the complete opposit. There the mc HAS to be poetic, cause his voice is the main reason why people wanna listen to it.

regards
