i have been using cubase sx for a while now and am trying to make some good breaks, if i explain the structure and my problem then maybe someone will be able to help

i have a different channel for each drum sound i.e

chnl1 hh

chnl2 snre

when i have made a beat and a melody that i like and put them together the drum sounds sound weak and unclear and the melody sounds much less distict. this is very frustrting as i think the tunes themselfs could be good but i think the issue i have is not being able to get the drum track and rest of the track comunicating on different levels. any help would be much appreciated, i'm desperate to get these tunes sounding right. dj quash

how are you sequencing???? are you using a plug in to trigger samples??? or are you just trying to put audio straight onto a channel??

if its the latter then trying to make dance music is gonna be difficult.......try and get hold of a copy of reason and then rewire it to cubase.
will make life a lot easier

I sequence them in one track, mix and EQ them in seperate channels. But more flexible!

From this I conclude that you have probz with EQing. You should release some frequencies from your melody for the drums. Try by adding a reverb to your melody, and decreasing the volume of it. You will have, closely, the same melody, that will be heard good, and the drums will take their place in the spectrum
