I plan on redesigning the site for bigger screens. I was thinking about 1024x768 as basic measure. The forum would still fit in 800x600 but not the rest of the site.
Are there people out there that still use this ancient 800x600 resolution? If you don't have a choice but to use 800x600 then scream out now or forever hold your breath

You put 1280*1024 in the list... which is in fact a 'wrong' resolution since it's not 4:3, as 800*600... giving a deformed image. Therefore people should run @ 1280*960, which is 4:3, and the resolution I vote for
No, 1024*768 will be fine!

the stats show that more than 65% uses 1024*768 and only 14% 800*600
looks like 1024*768 is the way to go

hehe it's the width that counts, not the height
The scrollbar takes care of that----->

To try it out I'm now surfing in 800x600... eyow those letters are big
I've only found a few sites that don't fit in 800x600 (eg DOA), so I might have to stick to 8x6 after all...

I always make my site fit for 800*600
But with PHP it's easy to build in a resolution check and ajust the site to the users screen, no?

You can do that automatically with tables... but if the screen is too wide it gets hard to read
Like the forum atm
I'm now surfing in 1600x1200 to feel the contrast with 800x600
