In summer I'm going to need new needles... would like concorde shaped ones (does anyone know a good type/brand that matches price and quality in a good way?)

I've got me them Ortofon Pro Concorde Silver and IMO they kick ass! They don't wear off fast, and they can produce basses like hell! Another extra point is that they don't "derail" quick, but they eat a lotta dust when U go out and spin in a venue where there is a lotta smokiing going on.

I've bought mine in a package with 2 spare needles and a little brush, all nicely put in sort of a jewellery case (pretty handy to take with U when U go out to spin)

The price: I've bought mine for the price of I guess about 8000 BEF (€ 200) for 2 of them packages, got them for 2 years already, so I don't know whatl they'll cost now.

Machakil, about the "lauw" water.
It is good to wash-up your records from time to time. This can be done with "lauw" water, a bit of vinegar in it and some 'dreft' stuff. Use a soft spunge and wipe in circles, always in the same direction! Fill half the sink with water to make sure to not really drench the record and keep it vertical. It doesn't hurt your vinyl at all, on the contrary, the sound gets cleaner and more clear. Do make sure to put them in a "rack" to let the water drip off. Then towel dry like you washed them. Did it for my uncle as a student job. He has a vinyl store with a lot of second hand LP's that need to be cleaned first when he buys a 'lot'. It does take a while, so it's either that or spendin' a lot on sprays and clean-up kits.
BTW scratch-wizards usually put their battle-records on moist towels next to their decks. The needle doesn't skip so easily that way...

You should also clean your needles from time to time to minimize track wear. This was posted here

I guess it should be possible with isopropyl alcohol, that's what I use to clean tape playback heads Big Grin

But don't take my word for it Wink try it on a cheap needle first Big Grin

Glad I could help Machakil. Big Grin

Dunno 'bout the needles though. I know washing up your RECORDS is better then those sprays cuz the sprays are on an alcoholic base which evaporates very quickly. The vinegar realy cleans out the 'grooves'. Don't dare to say it's the same for needles. Confused
One advice? Be careful! Shocked Pleased

ortofon is top notch NO DOUBT! BUT there is an exception to the game and madness!

Stanton TrackMaster 2 Roger Sanchez Endorsed model...

These needles are made for beat mixing and beat mixing only...you get extremely accented Hi's a fat mid, and a huge bottom end so you hear EVERYTHING! and when i say everything im being for real...also the styli are made with an eliptical high polished Diamond that reduces wear on your records and last a really really really long time... ive used my needles now for a full 3 years and have only broken one stylus... the tracking forces are good too...you might want to adjust your tonearm but thats not a bigdeal... what best about these is taht theyre not that expensice... you coudl spend a good 120$ out the box for one ortofon nightclub, but these are jsut as good if not better, and are only 199$ for a pair...

you pick and choose... goodluck on finding a good needle... Bigup
