Just got a car (2003 Volvo v40) and i want to put a pretty decent audio system in it with subs, amp, speakers etc... i want a system that can make my dnb sound deep and clear, without taking away too much from the higher freqs. My budget is 2000. Any suggestions??

if you want somethin' pretty, those 2000 bucks won't be enough.
The trunk layout is about 300 bucks
then for amps.. There are plenty of amps, try a simple car-audio shop.
Even at "Auto5" or "Krefel"
then for the subs, what subs do you want? 8" 12" 15" 18" ?
kicker subs? you name it
then for the speakers
loads of speakers to choose from...

I'd go for 2 subs in the front doors, and 4 decent mid-high range speakers, 2 in front, 2 in the back. If your main goal is good sound there is no need for extreme amounts of watts. Just put in decent equipment in the right way. Pioneer and cerwin-vega are 2 very good brands.
Ooh, and tighten everything very good, nothing is more annoying then the unnecessary vibrations with every basshit.

That's a break, ain't it?
You could go for a total trunk rebuild
like djfreemc said looks very good.
But to avoid the sound comin to much out of the doors except from beeing totally around u, put 2 tweeters on top of the dashboard.
(as in many many monovolumes)

JBL 6 BY 9s in boxes on the back shelf, tweeters on the dash board facing the window, and some 5 inches in your doors. get a decent amp and run it with a slightly boosted low end. or contact xzibit
