I only rate if I've seen people behave on the same level for a whole time, so I haven't reated many people yet. Most of them I have already met IRL too...

It seems that people who post a lot are rated down easily. Could have something to do with writing offtopic posts. That's ofcourse not what it is meant for.
I mean someone like Halph-Price should definitely have a better score than he now has because he writes a lot of really helpful and detailed stuff. He does tend to go offtopic rather quickly too but that doesn't mean he's not helpful.
Well I guess it's human nature to start rating down people who annoy you, it's probably unavoidable. I can imagine if you express strong opinions in e.g. these europe vs US political discussions your rating will drop dramatically because people tend to get offended by them. So if you really care about your ranking try not to step on people's toes
Also if you want to rate someone please try not to judge by a single post that you like / don't like. Do a quick scan of the user's other posts to make sure your rating is objective. You can do this easily by clicking on the 'search' button next to the user's name. This will show you all posts that are written by that user.
I do think the ratings will balance out after a while. As time goes by you will get ratings from a lot of different people and it will closely reflect your abilities. Especially if your rating is currently low people will rate you high when you help them out, that's human nature too!

yea its starting to irritate me a little...none the less its a forum...but as for my latest track...has nothing but good reviews. yet its got only 2 thumbs up or (big ups) or..whatever..so...i dont really understand how that happens...although that doesnt have much to do with the user/helpfullness rating, i can imagine it has to do with similar things...
I realise that the ratings are usually averaged out and tahts how they work...but my question is (and not to boast) but whos gonna go ahead and be dickheaded enough to rate a decent/good track bad liek that?

totally agree with you. I have a strong feeling - this topic specifically had a bad influence for people who maniacally started rating memebers up and down

thechronic & Surya, i've noticed your average ratings respectively are 9.20 and 9.17
which means that some folk here think you're not really helpful !!

Lol, yeah. I guess I sometimes upset some people by saying what's on my mind, so they might give me a low rating... But obviously most people think I'm doing a quite good job. Tnx for that

Have you been learning probability and statistics?!
You have approx. 200 active members on this site. The first 50 dislike you, the users from 50 - 150 respect you, the next 25 like you, and the last 25 WANT TO BE SEXUALLY ABUSED BY YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR FORUM ACTIVITIES AND HELPFULNESS.
Now, it happens that only the first two groups are active today - so you get rated bad. After 1 or 2 months, the other group will come and rate you appropriately - there is the ballance, and the real grade!
