yeh but its worth the hassle, even if you cant be bothered to build your own ensembles, tweaking the presets to get an original , quality sound gives good results

You don't even need the usb connection, most soundcards have a midi input, all you need is a cable converter that goes from the joystick port to midi. So you could even use a cheap old casio or something as midicontroller, just as long as it has a midi output.
