Please check out my new track 'The Silence (March of Machines Remix)' and post your comments here!!!
Well, this is really sucky. While I technically finished this almost a week ago, I wasn't able to upload it due to lack of internet access. So yeah, that's kinda bullshitty that I missed the deadline for this one.
This is my attempt at a "normal" DNB song....not too sure it's normal though. I used every single sample from the sample pack, aside from the strings. No offense to you Surya, but there was nothing I could do with those strings.....and I like my strings much more.
I didn't use any other samples or synths aside from the ones provided, not including the strings (those are a soundfont I beefed up).
Yes, I realize there's no second drop, but that's ok. We're not worried about the second drop, because the song is already over 6 mins long, right? I don't think we need a second drop, one is satisfactory for this song.
Ok, so I think I should include my vision for this song.
Intro: City scene, people scurrying about their lives. The drums hit, and shit starts getting darker and people start panicking for an unknown reason as of yet. The drums release, and everyone stops as it gets much much darker. The sky becomes overcast with darkness, people stare up into it in awe. On the first vocal hit, we see pods start to shoot into the ground through the darkness. Strings swell up and they all open. When the marching strings begin, we start to see cybernetic beings emerge from the pods and assemble into perfectly alligned ranks. They continue to march through the city to the beat, as the cityfolk run and scream....yet they aren't making any noise. Just as the marching strings stop, and the virus sound starts to initiate the countdown to the drop, the cybernetic beings all stop in their tracks and start to build up some sort of energy around themselves.
Drop = Total Chaos
I'll leave the last part to your imaginations.

I know all about the violins
You could probably tell from the way I wrote them into a DNB song, that I have a strong fondness for all instruments classical.

Ok... interesting sawtooth at the basseline...
Interesting strings...
and very awesome drums....
dislike the violins but the somehowmatch inside the song...
I espetially like the second part of the song....
If I had to rate it from 1-10 i would give it 7.5!!!
Or maybe just because I`m tired right now...well ok I would give it 8!!

Like how the intro starts out thin to become phatter and phatter
Nice filtering going on most of the time...
Like the new stings you brought in, they sound tight!
Nice how they build!
Looong intro man! 3.34
But nice!
Drop: nice drive going on! And nice filtering. Drums are nice too!. Sound could be a bit more ballanced, but quite nice.
Since the drop is over halfway the track, it does sound kinda short, maybe bring in a second drop anyway
The Up All Night remix has an intro of 4 minutes too, but the track is over 9 minutes...
Nice one!

Nice big intro - very gradual but doen't get boring at all. Strings sound amazing especially from 2:10 on - that's a soft syth or sample/rompler? Great build, sounds really sophisticated. Didn't over or underuse the vocal. Like the visual description. Short filtered bass right before the drums sounds great - make it go longer. Nice fat sound here, but drums are a bit quiet or the snare could use a bit more of a crack to it. Filter is cool but it takes away the bass, maybe split the main bass/reece into a mid-hi range part that can be filtered (multiband compressor I guess) and then have the same filteredout sub part stay constant. Nice work with the amens but agin a bit quiet/light. For the awesome intro and the big filtered bass - this is my pick.

Why thanks Nosrac! The strings are a soundfont that I beefed up, the drums could definately have used some more work....and I did layer the basses, and the part where the sub cuts out and the rest filters up.......I actually cut out the sub for that part.....I got other complaints about it....so I suppose I should put it back......just so the sub woofers don't get confused.
