There's no strict guideline to this: but there might be some key-approaches:
1/layering
2/fat sub
3/'steady' bass sounds with chorus, lotsa distortion, flanger,...
4/'moving/talking' basslsounds: modulation over time
5/ rather narrow Q-settings in the mid-regions to get the punchy effect
6/resampling + further modulating
Again: these are some wild guesses that can help you get any closer.

That can get you pretty close, but you'll still need loads of layering and tweaking. That's the only reason why those basses make you go

if you mean by '~' a sine bass, then yeah, with the right settings in your synth/sampler you can get some sort of decent sounding bass. But my suggestion is that you don't have to take everything too literal.
Make sure you have a good and solid sub like one that brings the low pressure (apply some low bandpass filter on it so you only have your necessary sub-bass-frequencies), layer it with higher bassline with disto/chorus/whatever (make sure the ultra low and high frequencies are gone, so they can make room for your subbass) and finally you can layer the previous two with an additional bass sound that you have manipulated/tweaked as desired (cancel all low/low-mid on this one so your previous basses retain their character)
Hope that helps you in a way.
Check this forum, i'm sure the're more threads on this issue that can help you make some decent sounding bass.
oh, and please, don't forget: TWEAKING IS A NECESSARY FUN THING!!

take the bass u made with them oscillators, export it.
import it again as a wav file, layer 2 or 3 of the same basslines, and start tweaking your pitch button (to detune the whole bunch
u'll get nasty results allready than) and your filter the hell out of it till it sounds wicked
then add some more distortion and eq, to make that bassline pump
actually it's all expriment tiill you find what you need
cheers, emblem

i don't think 3 more osc's and detuning will give you what you want.
You could use it though as a beginning, but the phatness comes with the fx, layering and resampling

I know it's difficult to complete your sounds/song/... on forehand, but it might help if you start experimenting with some layered/fx/tweaked bass-sounds, and simply save them as a .wav. You can still add fx/layers later on if necessary.

Many of the guys on Renegade talk about using a virus bass - and as far as I know they are refering to Acesses's line of killer anolougue synths - many of the presets sound dead on.
