Some say hoover and reece are the same but i have serious doubts about that. Coz i think i know how to make a reece (using absynth or albino
) but its more complicated to make a kickass hoover like u got in Dave Akumas Inverse Gate or in Qbits Keener (well i think they are hoovers). Now, how u create them coz they sound so badass good and have no clue where to begin (i use FL5 btw).

well ya, like i said, it really doesn't do a hoover outside of a very small parameter. it can sound bad esily.
Albino2 does hoovers

hoover and reece are the same thing!!!......they come from a patch on one of the junos.......but was called something else.....its again down to what you do with it......prime example is mulders tune, which strange enough is called hoover, and we all know of a million tunes where you can find the reece

i think a lot of dnb synth sounds are basically made from the same root idea, and what makes em sound that way is probably because they all utilize PWM

What I've always thought of hoover and a reece is that a hoover is a bass that can sound right in dance
and trance compositions too, but a reece is something that belongs only to drum'n'bass style. And I've
heard that a distinction between hoover and reece is that a hoover always has a slight enveloped pitch
reduction or smth like that if you understand what I mean.

The philosophy behind hoover and reece is this:
-they are both combination between a bass and a lead, with the same note line;
-the hoover is more bass and less lead
-the reece is more lead less bass

the mentasm was created by joey beltram, if you go to that other site ......
"d@#s on acid" and put how to make a mentasm youll find a tutorial there, im not sure youll reproduce the mentasm exactly though, so if in doubt find your self a clean sample, there is some about
, twist it up and thee you go.

the really good hoovers out there like the juno hoovers and the real ravy ones have a lot more going on than one would thing...
theres a lot of processing done afterwords... now the dominator preset is on the Juno D but like i said, theres a lot more processing done to it to get a nice squelchy screeming hoover...
i guess just fallow what jem said and check out the mentasm thing..

i'd had tought the reese would be more bass then lead, and hoovers as being the kinds of synths used in hardcore (with no bass at all actually)...
imo synths like used in The Enemy & Kid Kryptic's Malice Aftertought, or like a lot of hardcore these days (Neophyte, The Headbanger, Hellsystem) are a bitch to make...every time i try, it ends up sounding like a fucking organ or it sounds thin and dull...
Reeses are so easy compared to those synths imo..
