dour is one of the best festivals full stop. Last year was the first I skipped in 7 years. there arent many festivals in this little country that cann compete with the price quality balance of Dour. and i've been to quite a few festivals in my live.

actually , most of the people are going by train .... when you first arrive at the train station (f.e. antwerp central or berchem) , it will prolly be packed of people ....
When you then get off in brussels ( south or centre) to get on the train to St Ghislain , then it really will be packed and there's a big chance you'll have to stand up straight .... But this is a great way to meet new people , to experiment and try eachothers alcoholic timebombs
Or even smoke j's in the smokers wagon ( altho it is now illegal to smoke anything on the train unfortunately)
... ha dour ..... once in 2000 it was my first festival , didn't know what to check out first .... now i feel like coming home everytime i set foot on those festival grounds 
it is indeed THE belgian festival , nothing can ever be compared to it ....
btw emblem : as long as i can remember ( so that is 2000) , Dour was always in the middle of july 
and this year , my boyrfriends birthday falls in the days we're at dour , so we'll have an extra reason to party

btw emmetje , i read somewhere in the other dour thread that you would have troubles to get to dour becoz you don't know how ....
from where would you start your trip? If its from brussels , its really not that long to sit in the train etc .... You only have to take the slowtrain ( the one that stops at every lil village ) to St Ghislain ( in direction of Mons /charleroi) , think it takes like a little hour to get there ... Then you take the pendelbus who takes you to the festival fields .... And then you have to walk for quite a distance ( or so it always appeared when i was dragging all my possessions to the camping from that bus
) ---> imo , the walking part in the end is the tuffest ....
you can find all the train hours and information when you go to the NMBS site and type "st ghislain" as destination and your own town as starting point ...
but maybe, we ( =me and my bf with the car) can for example pick you up at the train station of st ghislain when you arrive there , if we arrive at more or less the same hour ....
its now still too early to say/promise offcourse that you can get a ride with us , but i think that if i go , it wouldn't be a problem to pick ya up
you really should check dour out , there's a first time for everything

hey girl, thanks for the advice
anyway i haven't checked anything either, i was just talking about experience.. usually it's very easy to get there indedd, the point is to leave it. last year at pukkelpop for example the concerts were held much later than the last train, which meant you had to arrange a lift back (or spend the night at the camping but it's nothing for me).
that's why i usually visit events just when i'm sure i can get a train or a lift back..
of course it's very early now to talk about organization for Dour.. we'll see later.. but true i'd like to visit this festival because i've heard a lot about it and i'm curious..
