Where can I find cheap turntables, I mean like second hand or in discount??
Should i immediately buy technics or is a promotion pack also good?? Which turntables are good for the beginner: price-quality??

I've seen an advertistment recently which may interest you. It's kind of DJ-Start-Up-Kit:
2 * American DJ TTB-2010 (belt drive)
1 * Stage Line MPX-1 (mixer)
2 * Omnitronic S-15
1 * Ortofon OM Pro
+ slipmate, cables and few dnb vinyls
Price is 325 euro. Contact this guy at Emo.fm@interia.pl He's from Lodz (Poland).
greetings!

One of my friends has bought 2 Numark TT1650. They're very decent, look great, have direct drive and cost half of what you pay for Technics. Price is 245 euro a piece. More info

That's what I've heard. But another statement I've heard was also:
quote: |
good turntables are belt-driven, because the belt isolates the platter-arm-cartridge loop from the noises generates by the motor. Direct-drive turntables couples all motor noise directly into the platter.
|
And what about that
?

Yeah yeah and the motor is isolated from the chassis too, probably hanging on springs or something to minimize the vibrations. That's why belt-driven TTs are so expensive and totally hi-fi
No that's a load of bull, direct drives is the shit you should get, belt drives are always on the low end in every brand's product line.

Don't ever buy Gemini, I've spinned on them (=PT2200) once and they just suck, they just don't handle right (which kinda fucked up my set)!
I've once heard: once you've had Technics, you don't wanna have anything else and I guess that's right, guess they just are the best. I wouldn't buy Stage line stuff (as hoodratt said), haven't heard anything good about it, just as JBS. Heard about Numark that they are quite good (but I'm a Numark fan, so...).
The pity is that them Technics are just very hard to find second hand (searched for about 2-3 months for mine, -koopjeskrant is something very good to find second hand stuff)

You know, if you can't afford technics (me) and you want a good table (me), go for stantons. I don't know why someone would not like them, the str8-100's have HIGHER torque than technics and play just as well. I love the straight tonearm, and keymatch is nothing to laugh at either (I mix classic rock into DnB and do live remixes). Other cheap tables will give you a headache. If there's any one bad thing I have to say about the str8-100's it's that they have a really cold digital feel to them, and they're hard to touch and keep going. Fortunately they do have a pitch adjust button to fine tune mixes, but don't touch the platter too much. I think you'll find that if you play on those tables and then move to technics, you'll appreciate the techs more but still be able to have something to work with in the mean time. Excellent for scratching too with the str8 tone arm.

A dj-shop at 1 min from my place, is sellin' them and I think I'm goin' to settle for Stantons too... Just can't raise the money for 1200/1210's and idd, I always liked to mix-up all kind of dancable genres for which that key-lock is a great utility...
If Technics comes out with that option too...

I'm a poor student too, but I got my turntables second hand. Bought 2 technics sl- 1200 mkII for 550 euro....
if you check ' muziek.2dehands.be ' on a regular basis, and you have a bit of luck, you can get some nice turntables I think....
