you can resize it using a tool like irfanview (freeware), 640 width should be sufficient
In IRFanview, open your original image, choose Image->Resize/Resample->Set new size, check that "Preserve aspect ratio" is checked, choose Pixels there and fill in 640 in the Width box. Choose "Resample" - and the slowest method (= best quality), then OK.
Then File-> Save as, and choose a name make sure the Type is "JPG - JPEG Files". Select a location where you're sure you'll find it back, give it a decent name (i.e. originalname_small.jpg), set the JPG quality to 80 or smth (should be sufficient), and Press save.
Then upload the image you just saved somewhere - and link to that image instead of that huge thing 
Then you get smth like this:
