I am not sure but structure of machines on one of the programs running there [imo it's not just one] may be buzz or audiomulche.. but just guessin'

ah...trent reznor is a freakin whiz with synthesizers... looks like a vst in the bottom left corner...certainly not a buzzmachine they're pretty simple...i dunno its probly some obscure program, all kinds of em use that box-linking format these days. as for protools, i've never actually seen it. it could very well be.

its not protools ive seen protools and its not resaon or buzz....well it may be protools...but im not certain..on the bottom left it looks like one of the softsynths from the korg legacy collectyion and on the bottom right a vst...it loks like the piano roll thats in cakewalks sonar, the producer edition, but the big mixer looking thing on the bottom of the screen isnt something ive seen before in that program i dont think...and thats an assload of hardware...is that what those lovely crazy producers really have in there houses 
how do you work all that shti!!!

On the right side he's definitely using Reason because I see the drum sequencer...

It is definitely Protools, check out the transport window in the bottom left corner, that's the one from Protools. He's got the Protools HD hardware in one of the racks too btw 
Nice collection of modular synths, some seem to be custom built. And I see a Sherman Filterbank 2 in there too!! Great little filter!!

Are we talking about the program on the left monitor, or the one on the right monitor? The one on the left monitor looks a lot like Cubase, but I could be wrong. The one on the right monitor looks like Pro Tools, but I could be wrong.
Trent Reznor is a god...I hope I get to go to his Toronto show for his "Exclusive Tour" he's going on. If I miss the Toronto show....the next closest one is in NYC....and that's not that close (6-7 hour drive, 475 miles).

Its not reason on either monitor. He's got a few pro-tools racks in the background (directly behind the mic) and i think they only work with the pro-tools software. I reckon pro-tools with some VSTs or whatever the equivalent is. Thats a hardcore setup hes got there, dont think that lot would fit in my bedroom somehow (although trying would be nice!)

I know what the hardware is :
Left below is a EMS AKS next to it is a Sidstation above the Sidstation and below the Protools rack is a Buchla 200 . Behind the Sherman is a rack with Concussor and Analoge Systems modules and on top a Obercorn sequenser . The Keyboard is also from Analoge Systems . I don't know what the rest is .

That's the most important thing about analoge , It's way more fun . That it sounds nicer is just a bonus .
If you have the money go for the Buchla !

yea, who has 2k to blow on one tube strip or synth, for the same price you can get a bunch of pretty good softwares.
reason coverd what moth hardware synths have although, and if you notice all the little extras reason has, thats why hardware gets so popular.
i don't know many soft synths you can contol as detailedly. on the whole most are pretty rigid, but the massive numbers of them balance that out.
still the sound quality, of hardware, helps, and oh ya, it's easier to impress friends. when they stumble upon it and press a button and some cool noise comes out, it makes ou seem cool too.....
