battery vst
is a drum sampler (load in slices in samplercells, and trigger them with midi signals (pianoroll notes in my case)). fruity's got a step sequencer, and each layer is a sampler, but that's about it (sampler sucks imo, that's why i'm learning battery
)

I've found battery to be a hell of a lot better than ReDrum... I actually think its easier to use the midi notes to trigger the samples coz in the matrix editor (piano roll in cubase i think) you can see everything that is sequenced rather than with a step sequencer where you can only see the sample you currently have selected. Makes life a lot easier, well for me anyway.

er....no but when your using high end plug ends like the waves gold bundle the last thing you need is reason using more cpu and ram by triggering audio off your hard disk!!
ok reason isnt exactly a cpu whore but combined with multiple c4s and trueverbs, absynth2, vanguard,reaktor and albinos it makes more sense to get a step seq and work wihin cubase only....plus reasons audio quality is slightly lacking!

fruity loops is a great step sequencer for drums. honest to, god, if it's good for nothing else, it's making beats.
