well surround sound has no use in club music but absynth 3 is ofcourse great synth. Altough it's still a bit hard to manipulate for me

N2O my most favourite drugs of all time , if only I could remember that story .....
For me the best baloon song is "Work for Never" from Extreme Noise Terror on the peel sesions album
Anyway , that sound is made with a spectrum shifter and that is one of the coolest modules there is . You can make 3D sounds with it if you shift only a few Hz and wierd sounds if you go further .
Analoge frequenty/spectrum sifters are very expensive more than 4000 euro for a Bode , thats 4000 euro for 1 module !!!!!!! . Doepfer makes the cheapest but it can't shift less than 50 Hz so no 3D sounds from that unit . It's also in the Clavia G2 .
A spectrum shifter works like a ringmodulator only a ringmodulator shifts the sound both up and down and a frequenty/spectrum shifter only up or only down .
Here's a link on ringmodulators and how to aply them and even make your own
"Tubesound" for free!!! (uhh...almost)
Greetings Dirk .

yea, ring mod's are tricky, i find they work good on kicks of breaks, so down 50-100hz and than it gives it an alien sound.....
that's the extent of ringmod's as an effect. they work well when intergrated with synths.

Make that real ringmodulator !!! It's the best tip I gave on this forum .
If you want "nice" sounds from ringmodulators and their cousins frequenty/spectrumshifters use harmonicly related sounds .
Now go make that real ringmodulator it is more musical than the ones used in the old Moog modulairs and much cheaper .
Greetings Dirk .
