this is why i like dnb, it's creepy dark!

ok, I can understand about the religious thing, but that doesnt make their music bad... well, lets just forget about this Big Grin
But I like both sides of music, 'dark' and 'light' Wink I can listen to pretty dark DnB, and the next song I listen to can be a nice chillout/lounge or happy song Smile

He was about to release a new album, one i think never came through, never saw it.
The single was quite funny though: 'Last Night a Dog Saved My Life'...

Know this sounds a bit gay, but I been getting quite into classical recently. Shocked Really versatile stuff, its cool whether you like your music dark or light. Anyway, Andy C used to use a clip from Verdi or Carl Orff at the start of his sets. Really dramatic shit.

Favourite non DnB artist = Beethoven. Big Grin

Just kidding, wouldn't go that far yet. Names that pop to mind, Outkast, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, DJ Shadow, Dr Dre (cheesy choice, but 2001 has to be the best album, song for song, of all time. Gangsta

For me though, I have to say, its all about the individual tune rather than the artist. I'm not one of them people who just cos really they like one or two tunes from someone then go and swamp their collection with loads of superfluous stuff from albums which they're neva gonna really listen to. I like to be able to have my iPod on random, and know that whatever it plays I'm gonna like. Which if you get loads of albums aint gonna be the case.

Plus I have to say that music for me is a lot about associations. Dunno if any of you relate to this, but if, for example, you just pulled a really fit girl and some tune starts playing in the background, lo and behold, when you next hear that tune, its become a favrourite. That's probably why I like 2001 so much - those were the days Roll Eyes

Wouldn't know, i rather say which tracks i like than sayin which artists. That's the way i look at music.
I don't i like this genre and that genre, i say i like this track and that track but the one overthere, see that one that says tiesto, i really hate that one...

Might even be a little behind in appreciating this guy, but if you like BASS, and if you like a real cold blooded, menacing sound, you HAVE to hear this guy. He's called Plasticman - I stress Plastic with a c not a k. His stuff is Puke

They call the genre dub step - sort of south londons answer to east london grime I suppose. Heres a couple to check out:

remix of Alter Ego's Rocker, Pump up the Jam, The Rush, and one my favourite, though the most light of them all, his remix of Imp Batch's Gype Riddim.

Honestly, well worth a download . . .

Don't think you've ever heard all plastikman's (aka Richie Hawtin) stuff - his albums in general are Shocked
On his techno side, I understand not everybody here will like what he does, but it's not like that's all he makes. It the same for guys like Jeff Mills and some other "high profile" techno DJ's, they're known by the masses for their straight 4/4 techno, but they're also not afraid to experiment with breakbeats or unconventional rithms, a lot of these guy's albums are not what the main audience would expect from them, so they don't become big hits...

I wouldn't judge too fast on artists like that, they just do what they want, I respect that, and I like it Smile I don't limit myself to the boundries of "styles".
