Hi, i was wondering, what are snare drums good for? Are they being used as kick or as snare? My guess would be snare lol. And whats the difference between a snaredrum and a snare in a track?

What are snaredrums used for? Aside from really weird bongs? They're used for that snap that you put after the bassdrum in order to extinguish the on and off beats.

If you get the chance, go to a live gig and watch the drummer, you'll instantly recognize all the sounds: kick drum (aka bass drum aka kick), snare drum (aka snare), toms, floor tom, hihat, ride and cymbals. And a cowbell and mounted tambourine too if he's some kind of a wanker
Or check out sites of drum brands such as Yamaha, Pearl, Tama, Gretsch, Ayotte, Sonor, Slingerland etc etc etc
