just wanted to say thank you so much for the above advice from everyone. i'm the happiest reecer around now.. been looking so hard for that sound!
i use reaktor because it's very flexible, and simple when you're talking about PWM, LFO's, detuned saws etc... with the advice u guys gave .. i had an amazing reece in less than half an hour.. been programming drums for a long long time, and now i have the lead, moving on to pads now

you use FL to!? your my best freind, i eat and breath fruit. (then i choak on the seads,lo)
and i like chorus reeces.
to make a good one you bust understand effects.
hey chronic, send me PM if you want samples of reece loops or strait sound.
well anyways what i do is take a smooth wav shape,
then overdrive and distort to cause a mix between a square and a smooth wave, then a LP filter to take then sharp corners off of the wave shape, then i add chorus and flangus and phaser and EQ and reverb and warmth and all that.
then its real nice (or bad).
and symsynth always seams like ashit to me 
always! but thats just cause it is not intended for what i am aiming for, its still good at what it was meant to make.

for ver advanced lead reece or modulating reece,
automate allow of filters on the effects track of the reece, and have 1 effect track have output into another one so you can have this huge layer of effects.
then save the mixer as a preset to send all sorts of sound through those effects.
the posabilitys are limitless...

For a different reese use a synth with 3 oscillators and set them up like this...
1. Set up your oscillator waveforms
OSC 1 - Sine - minus about 33 cents
OSC 2 - Sine - plus about 33 cents
OSC 3 - Triangle - minus 12 semitones (1 octave lower)
Hopefully you'll have something that sounds like the bass from Ray Keith's terrorist if it worked.
