About that. I've read that 8hrs of 85db (not that much, is it) can cause permanent eardamage. Each adidional 3db speeds up the process 100%. That means only 1hr of 94db could cause permanent eardamage
Most parties are much louder, and take a while longer than 1hr... how come most people come out fine? (I'm glad my ears are fine tho

I do care about my ears too. Mine are still perfect, and I'm very glad bout that. But after a night of serious loud noise/music, your ears need to recover for like 48 hours, if the damage isn't peranent already. If you don't give them the time to recover, they might be damaged after all.
Now, I'm planning on doing some serious 10 Off this summer. I think I'm going to use earplugs, since they take off about 10db, which is quite worth it, I think!

Well, being quite a bit older then most of you, I've been exposed to even more of these decibels in my life. I was kinda worried that my hearing was getting worse (you start noticing it by the way the high tones aren't that clear anymore), but when I had a physical for work last year, my hearing appeared to be fine. It was a little below perfect, so there had been SOME damage, but overall it was still A-OK!
I guess it's like with almost everything: don't exagurate! Don't stand right in front of the speakers (at least not the entire night). Go outside or to the chill from time to time to give your ears a chance to recuperate. Don't cranck the volume of your car-stereo or especially your headphone too loud. Never (!) use those earplug things, cause they can really fuck your ears up. Normal headphones might not be as aesthetic, there certainly more healthy!

There's a difference between not thearing well and being used to loud music. Got the same comment here from my ex, but my ears are better

well I seem to have some problems... First of all the volume of sound I hear seems lower and sounds more dofkes than the volume other people hear (compared to my mum or brothers when sitting in from of the television)...
From the moment some music is playing or there's noise around, I don't seem to understand people anymore :s this really really fucking bugs me! On a party it happens that I have to ask 5 times to repeat what they were saying... A year ago I had the same problem by only sitting on the bus, happily this kinda dissappeared
And from time to time I suddenly hear a high peeep for like a minute...
It all started like 2 years ago... I hope I isn't permanent :s

I have that problem on parties too. I just can't understand people on the dancefloor... Realy fucked up, but my ears are just fine, so it's not that.

It's easier to understand people at parties when you're wearing earplugs, but you tend to speak too softly yourself cuz you can hear your voice clearly inside your own head

Sometimes I get the impression that you hear more than one voice in your head!
On topic: those earplug-wearers among you, what's a good brand (don't need customs), cause I'm considering buying some too.
