Please check out my new track 'Funk-o-vision' and post your comments here!!!
this is not finished, but i'll call it a Beta version, because this is pretty much everything i can get done, and i want review to improve from here.
the second drop may be better and if you think i should implemnt that more in the first drop say something.
also any pointers about structure would be helpful!

So...
No levels - listening on headphones.
I would completely change melody of main lead. Also maybe change even instrument or some kind distort it to make it more sick.
Structure needs improvement - there are some nice moments here and there but it doesn't make feelin of complete track.
Breaks are kind of ok, but they don't have enough power. Listen to some famous artists to see how they manage structure. Base drum & snare loose itself and hardly hearable - make them more crisp. I'd say there is still a lot of work till this one would be complete. Sorry can't rate it for now, cause it just a base for a tune. I'll wait for further versions.
P.S. Wich software do you use?

i can really feel the funk in this track
drums definitely need more balls
didnt really like random sounding melody sections
but i think this track has potential

The bass line is not bad, like the variation to it but not so often....... the break from 1.05 to 2.05 is a bit too long and i don't like so much the end, sax seems to collide on th bass or someting. Good drum, not so lound tho....
Really like the bass

Jus listened and its not what i expected at all, really liked it at first but im not too keen on the change around 2min16secs, bit random and out of key makes it sound a little amateurish but apart from that i would give it a 3/5 as it has originality to it and the production is very professional

arg the horns at the second break are too damn loud, they got cranked full by the automation, accident.
i'll tighten up the drums and try to get a better melody going.
yea, i havn't done a full tweak on the drums yet, there almost spasmatic. the break before the first drop isn't even done... i can't figure out what to do for it exactly....

Really good sounds, but no construction and balance, might be a terrible track with more work on it !
good job

The least i could do, after ‘The year we made contact’ stuff
,
is downloading a Halph-Priced track and write my review!
Listening to this this track somehow takes me back to days of
experimental 70’ 80’ spacy / (oops, did it again!
)
jazz-rock/funk/fusion jam, like Miles Davis, John Scofield,
Herbie Hancock etc!! Like that a lot! Before i first experienced
Dnb there mainly was this dope for me to drag me through in
(musical) life! Still got loads of vinyls and stuff!
Actually, this tune is very very stimulating to me, as a guitarist in
a band (under construction), trying to do things with Dnb in a
real/analoge life setting based on a concept of free jammin/groovin’!
Thank U very much for that!
I like the way it sounds (to me) as a set of musicians, live playing.
Imo structure could be improved if you simply do the first act and
building up more as a drum and bass thang, without the melodic
sax line.
And, i wonder is the bass(fretless?) or saxline created/played
in by U’re self?

Open that amen up in an editing program like soundforge or wave lab and cut off any gaps on the beggining and the end of the sample, that will make it sound tighter. From what i can hear the bass needs to be turned up a lil. I would tone down a bit on the trumpets (if thats what that is) and focus more on the bass.
sounds good so far though.

wow thanks i was kinda scrapping that whole song, but i think i am gunna finish it now.
never heard of thoes guys, or even really known this type of music, but it goes nicly i figured. i never even planned to use these samples. i just found them
if you like this sort of music get the new splinter cell sound track, i was listening to it and it's got that analog instruments, all organic sounding, and then post-production them to a bit of a tech edge.
i like amen's sound fake. i could strech them to fill, or even fill them with other precusians, make them fade out, but...
no forget it, i'll just fade them down so they don't cut at the end.
leaving the clarnet and sax till after the first drop is a good idea. the bass is a simple lick, and when yuo cut it up you can do anything with it. it sounds better since ther's the slding and pick sound int eh front.
i guess it would be a fretless.. fromt eh samples sound. it was a cop funk bass line.

going over it again, i relised, i made 2 amens, one that was together and flowing, the other more choppy for the intro.
so i'll say nothing in my song is entirly by accident when judged as a seprate item.

'Intelligent' Dnb is the main thing where all
these jazz-rock/fusion influences came out
at its most imo.(Ltj Bukem, Adam F, EZ rollers,
Blu mar ten, Blame, etc)
Though i don't like 'esoteric' descriptions
as 'intelligent' (sounds like all other Dnb flavas
implicate a kind of 'dumb' approach!) it's still
important. Gonna check that splinter cell
sound track! Thnx!
So glad
) u don't gonna scrap this one!
Hope to find, an listen when u're finished!!

Nice amen edits, although some sound slighty offbeat. Give it a bit more mid too.
Don't like the bassline (nor the melody or the sound). It's a bit dull
Jazz samples coming in: good sound. Drums kicking back in: you gave this some kind of a house feel. Not liking that.
Melodies and stucture are a bit messy, try making stuff tighter, more defined.
1.5/5 for the track
2/5 for the sound
